The Manager, Systems Engineering Global Support role is responsible for leading and managing a team responsible for supporting and maintaining availability and high-performance in mixed UNIX and Windows development, non-production, and production environments. As part of the larger team, this position helps to set the direction, establish and enforce standards, implement solutions, develop best practices and guide team members on a number of automation efforts. Additionally, the Manager performs root cause analysis of problems, identifies areas for process improvement, remediates issues, and executes tasks to deliver on project-based initiatives. Responsibilities Educate and mentor team members, operations staff and other departments on best practices of Unix and Windows infrastructure Delegate, assign, and ensure work is completed by subordinate staff Maintain availability and high-performance in mixed UNIX and Windows environments Provide technical analysis, resolve problems, and propose solutions in a 24/7 production environment Ensure that project milestones and deliverables are consistently met Respond to and assist with production operations in a 24/7 environment Provide support to, and coordinate with, developers, operations staff, release engineers and end-users Identification and automation of manual tasks using scripting and application development Investigate and adopt new technologies/tools as needs arise Knowledge and Experience Experience as a people manager or in a team lead role with delegation duties Strong practical Linux and Windows-based systems administration skills Demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, product and technical challenges Top-tier critical thinking and problem-solving skills Ability to work in a service-oriented team environment Project Management, organization, and time management Customer focused, and dedicated to the best possible user experience Communicate effectively with both technical and business resources Desired Degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent experience in Systems Engineering / Systems Operations Experience managing production operations, including data assurance, monitoring, alerting and notifications Moderate experience coding with any combination of Perl, Ruby, Bourne, Python, Java, API’s, and others Experience with automation tools including but not limited to Ansible, Puppet, Jenkins, Chef, or similar Schedule This role offers work from home flexibility of 1 day per week.
