Manager, Tax - LAC

Overview

The successful candidate will join Mastercard’s Latin American & Caribbean (“LAC”) tax team and will report to the Vice President Tax, for the LAC region, based in Miami, Florida. This position will support Mastercard’s business in the LAC Region by looking after tax compliance and provision matters, as well as certain international aspects of U.S. and foreign tax planning.

Role

Overall responsibility for tax compliance, tax provision and statutory compliance which includes the following key areas:

•\tAddress U.S. and Foreign Tax Planning, Compliance and Provision aspects of international transactions
•\tReview and manage timely filing of all indirect, income, and any other foreign tax returns in the LAC
•\tPrepare/review monthly, quarterly, hard close, and year-end tax provisions for all LAC entities
•\tResponsible for tax accounting under US GAAP including tax provision and tax reserves (ASC 740 and ASC 740-10) for both interim and annual periods
•\tAssist in monitoring, control, and enforcement of all SOX404 internal control policies and procedures
•\tTrack and understand tax law changes in all relevant LAC jurisdictions and their potential impact to Mastercard
•\tReview all LAC-related foreign entity tax compliance information required for US return; including but not limited to Forms 5471, 8858 and 8865, 861-8 allocations, earnings & profits, U.S. inclusions, Form 1118, foreign entity elections, disclosures, etc.
•\tEnsure adequate defense documentation is in place to support the positions taken in the tax return
•\tSupport tax examinations in both U.S. and non-U.S. jurisdictions and assist in determining strategies to defend tax positions
•\tAssist with ad hoc projects; e.g. E&P studies, tax modeling exercises, FIN 48 and FAS 5 analyses, etc.
•\tParticipate in Global M&A work as needed
•\tSupport Business Leaders in LAC regional business transactions, planning, and tax structuring as required
•\tSupport Purchase Tax Department as necessary; prepare and submit all required LAC information
•\tIndependently and effectively manage the relationship with external consultants as it relates to LAC tax compliance

•\tExceptional interpersonal skills, including ability and desire to communicate, collaborate, and coordinate with others throughout Mastercard Tax, Finance, and Business Units
•\tTeam player with strong project management skills, and a strong desire to learn and contribute to the company’s overall objectives
•\tStrong analytical skills
•\tAbility to organize, manage, and work independently to accomplish multiple tasks within established deadlines
•\tExcellent written and verbal communication skills
•\tAbility to identify and implement continuous process improvements
•\tFluent in English and Spanish, oral and written; Portuguese a plus

Qualifications

•\tTax experience in public accounting or in-house multi-national corporate tax department, with expertise and focus on Latin America preferred
•\tBig 4 accounting background preferred
•\tB.A. in Accounting required, Masters in Tax a plus
•\tProfessional certification (CPA) preferred
•\tStrong tax compliance background, i.e., preparing and reviewing tax returns
•\tGood working knowledge of ASC 740 (Accounting for Income Taxes)
•\tCompetent in Microsoft office software
•\tExperience with Corptax, One Source, and Oracle

Pay Range

Miami, FL $112,000.00 - 179,000.00 USD

In line with Mastercard’s total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary based on location, experience and other qualifications for the role and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role.
