The Opportunity

Based in at one of our Abbott Diabetes Care (ADC) manufacturing facilities in the USA (Austin, Tx or Buffalo Grove, IL), the division’s global engineering function currently has an opportunity for a Technical Engineering Manager to work in their Manufacturing Data Systems team.

The team supports the on-going development and deployment of data systems integration into our Global Manufacturing operations, enabling ADC to provide innovative state-of-the-art solutions that facilitate the company’s Factory 4.0 initiatives.

As a Manager, Technical Engineering you will be primarily responsible for the Technical Engineering leadership of programs for the real-time acquisition, storage, and analysis of data from ADC’s manufacturing lines, and providing an appropriate working environment for operations and personnel.

What You'll Work On

•Plan, implement and manage all major engineering projects including validation activities, RCE documentation etc. as required.

•Manage relevant departmental/project budgets within target and implement CIP/BEx projects as required.

•Provides technical support and knowledge.

•Ensure the project meets quality requirements of all stakeholders, including customers, auditors and other external agencies by ensuring adherence to the required policies and procedures.

•Measures and reports progress against approved timelines.

•Acts as an effective project leader or team member in supporting timelines, quality disciplines, decisions, and practices.

•Ensure prompt attention of the Project Manager in areas of risk, which might have an adverse effect on product and/or safety.

•Ensure the department conducts its business in a manner designed to be protective of human health, safety, and the environment.

Required Qualifications

•Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Systems, Mechanical, Computer, Electrical, Biomedical, or Software), or related discipline.

•5+ years of in a similar position, including systems integration experience/integrating all system components (electrical, mechanical, software), system architecture, requirement/user need gathering.

•Experience of software testing, verification and validation.

•Demonstrated ability to effectively integrate information from varied disciplines and work within a highly regulated environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Engineering (Systems, Mechanical, Computer, Electrical, Biomedical, or Software), or related discipline.Experience working in the medical device industry.Solid Program Management skills for global, complex, enterprise projects that incorporate integration of functions and technologies.Experience working with IT & engineering vendors, suppliers, and managed services providers.Ability to bring insight, knowledge, best practices, and feedback to strategic discussions.Excellent presentation, communication, negotiation, and collaboration skills.Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate technical and business issues and solutions to multiple organizational levels internally and externally.Strong leadership and organizational skills.Expert knowledge of real-time manufacturing data acquisition systems, and in particular the OSI-PI Data Historian system.

The base pay for this position is $95,000.00 – $190,000.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
