ResponsibilitiesJob Summary: The Manager of Virtualization is responsible for overseeing the client-side virtualization environment, including VMware Horizon VDI, Citrix published desktops and applications, and Imprivata authentication solutions. This role ensures optimal performance, security, and availability of virtual desktop infrastructure in a large healthcare environment. The Manager will also work closely with Managed Service Providers (MSPs) to ensure service delivery meets defined KPIs, SLAs, and CSLs.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Lead and manage the virtualization team to support Horizon VDI, Citrix, and Imprivata.Oversee MSPs to ensure adherence to SLAs, KPIs, and CSLs.Monitor and optimize virtualization performance, ensuring high availability and security.Develop and implement policies, procedures, and best practices for virtualization deployment and support.Collaborate with IT security, infrastructure, and application teams to maintain a secure and efficient virtualization environment.Manage service outages, troubleshooting issues, and coordinating resolutions with vendors as needed.Implement and oversee security measures to protect data integrity and comply with industry regulations.Conduct capacity planning to ensure virtual infrastructure can accommodate current and future needs.Develop and maintain automation scripts to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention.Design and implement disaster recovery strategies to ensure business continuity.Regularly monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize resource utilization.Maintain comprehensive documentation of configurations, procedures, and policies; generate performance reports.Manage vendor relationships to ensure timely updates, support, and alignment with business requirements.Stay current with industry trends and advancements in virtualization technology.Required Qualifications:
Experience managing enterprise VDI environments, preferably in healthcare; 7 years strongly preferred. Expertise in VMware Horizon VDI and Citrix published desktops and applications.Experience managing MSP relationships and ensuring compliance with SLAs.Strong knowledge of Imprivata authentication solutions.Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and security best practices.Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.Excellent communication and collaboration skills.Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Azure Virtual Desktop or AWS Workspaces.Relevant certifications in VMware, Citrix, or Imprivata.ITIL or other service management framework experience.Understanding of clinical workflows and healthcare IT requirements.Thin client management and implementationRequirements
Education:
High School diploma equivalency with 3 years of cumulative experience OR Associate'sdegree/Bachelor's degree with 2 years of cumulative experience OR 7 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.3 years of leadership or management experience preferred.Additional Preferences
