What you'll do Under limited supervision by the Director of Accounting, the Manager of Accounts Payable is responsible for the planning and supervision in the areas of accounts payable. Responsible for ensuring the financial integrity of the Accounts Payable systems with respect to payments, and tax reporting. Is responsible for the recording and reporting of all hospital disbursements. Applies generally accepted accounting standards and principles to ensure appropriate audit protocols are maintained within these areas. Develops and maintains Accounts Payable policies and procedures to ensure compliance with Board, management, federal and state mandates and regulations Monitors AP productivity and performance making recommendations for improvement and facilitating change Develops objectives, strategies and tactics associated with the annual work plan for the Accounts Payable staff Regularly assesses the AP system to ensure that they are supporting corporate objectives Ensures strong financial controls are in place to ensure financial viability and integrity within the Accounts Payable area of Finance Holds regular staff meetings to present relative information and obtain input and participation from staff Follows up on all issues and concerns in an effective and timely manner Conducts on-time performance appraisals Develops, implements and follows written procedures and policies to ensure the financial integrity of the Accounts Payable systems is maintained Presents data in various forums to various individuals and groups with confidence, professionalism and forthrightness in a communication style appropriate to the situation Supports the development of staff by developing goals and cultivating individual talents Develops and maintains job descriptions and performance appraisal forms for each position within Accounts Payable Works effectively with other departments, affiliated organizations, various outside agencies and vendors to ensure operational and organizational issues are being addressed Ensures the staff follows policies and procedures to ensure the appropriate disbursement of hospital funds Audits AP checks on a weekly basis Audits disbursements on a regular basis Organizes and posts to financial system AP accruals on a monthly basis Ensures the staff is trained sufficiently to perform their duties Ensures that staffing levels in Accounts Payable are appropriate for the tasks being completed Benchmarks the unit's productivity against appropriate outside benchmarking data (IMOA) Provides staff the tools needed to meet their job responsibilities Enhance the use of the Accounts Payable and other financial systems to improve service, expense controls, and staff productivity Prepares and reviews a variety of financial work papers Ensures the Accounts Payable department is within departmental budget for expenses Develops service improvements to ensure achievement of financial objectives Reviews financial systems to find better, cost effective and more efficient ways of performing the work Ensures regulatory requirements related to Accounts Payable are reviewed, monitored, maintained and implemented as dictated by external regulatory agencies Applies generally accepted accounting principles to ensure the system integrity when recording and reporting Bassett Medical Center and affiliated organization’s accounts payable and tax liabilities Ensures timely submission of accurate financial reports Assists in organizational budget development, including but not limited to expense analysis What we need from you Education: 2 Year/Associate Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Payroll, required Experience may be considered in lieu of education 4 Year/Bachelor's Degree, preferred Experience: 7 years minimum experience in accounting, finance, or payroll, required Bachelor's degree may substitute 2 years of experience 2 years Supervisory experience, required Skills: Accounting Accuracy Analysis & Evaluation Communication Computer Skills Gathering/Extracting Information Strategic Thinking Reading/Writing/Comprehension Physical Requirements: Sedentary Work - Exerting up to 10 lbs of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Pay Range Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards. The above compensation range represents a good faith belief of the compensation range by Bassett Healthcare Network, and its entities and affiliates, at the time of this posting or advertisement. Pay Range Minimum: USD $74,953.23/Yr. Pay Range Maximum: USD $112,429.85/Yr.
