Manager APP- Medical Specialty

JOB SUMMARY

\n

The Manager Advanced Practice Professionals provides direction and administrative leadership for Advanced Practice Professionals (APPs) in their defined geographic area and/or medical or surgical specialties within Baylor Scott & White Health System to enable APPs to fulfill their essential roles with expected outcomes. Helps coordinate educational programs for APPs within the region and specialty. The Advanced Practice Professional serving in this role will have designated administrative time (not to exceed 20%) at the discretion of their supervising physician and regional administration.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE

\n\nDirectly manages a group of APPs, to include hiring, onboarding, training, development, and performance management, while partnering closely with physician and administrative leadership on all of the above.\nPartners with the APP Administrator regarding any pertinent APP related issues.\nProvides patient services under the delegation of supervising physician and/or the designated supervising staff physician.\nInterviews and examines patients to establish each patient's symptoms and prepares patient database to create or update patient files.\nPerforms comprehensive examinations and appropriate medical screening procedures and accurately, clearly, and concisely dictates or records complete and accurate information in patient records.\nCompletes and/or assists in the formulation of diagnostic, therapeutic, and follow-up plans and/or treatment protocols as appropriate.\nInterprets laboratory data as appropriate, and orders appropriate laboratory investigations while following established protocols and/or delegation. Follows-up on patient status and diagnostic tests as appropriate and reports relevant information to supervising physician.\nCommunicates with patient, supervising physician, and other patient caregivers in a clear and concise manner any information that may influence the patient's care, treatment program or well-being including preparing clinical progress notes and other required documentation in accordance with Baylor Scott & White Health policies.\nPromotes appropriate utilization of APPs throughout the region or specialty.\n\n

KEY SUCCESS FACTORS

\n\nKnowledge of Federal and State of Texas laws and legislation pertaining to medical board and nursing board governance of APPs\nKnowledge of Joint Commission mandates regarding APP practice in hospitals and clinics\nExceptional interpersonal skills to interact effectively with a variety of medical staff and personnel; excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills\nKnowledge of Medicare and Medicaid rules\nRequires the analytical skills to collect information from diverse sources, apply professional principles in performing various analyses, and summarize the information and data in order to solve problems, or design relatively complex systems and programs that cross department/division lines\nAbility to guide, direct, mentor, train and work collaboratively in a team building environment\nRequired to obtain and maintain valid credentialing/licensing requirements at all times\nKnowledge of computer systems, Electronic Health Records, Databases, Excel, Word\nKnowledge of national and state APP issues, preferred active in national and state professional organizations\nKnowledge of current system and institutional policies, bylaws, and credentialing requirements preferred\nDemonstrated ability for self-direction and initiation required\n\n

SCHEDULE-No call, no weekends and no travel. 90% Clinical 10% Admin

QUALIFICATIONS

- EDUCATION - Masters' or Bachelors plus 2 years of work experience above the minimum qualification

- EXPERIENCE - 3 Years of Experience

- CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION -
       Basic Life Support (BLS): Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire or transfer.

       Nurse- Clinical Specialist (CNS): May be a CNS currently credentialed within in BSWH system. 
Must be currently employed in the CNS provider role.

       Nurse Anesthetists (CRNA), Nurse Practitioner (NP), Physician Assistants (PA): Must be an Advanced Practice Professional; Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant or Nurse Anesthetist.
