Manager Application Development - REMOTE for US based candidates

The stated pay range is based on a national average location. Actual salary is determined by factors including relevant work experience, skills, and location. This position is bonus-eligible.

Optavise, a CNO Financial Group Company is seeking a Manager Application Development to lead a team of LAMP developers working on a mature product. The position will be responsible for planning, designing, developing, delegating tasks, and performing code reviews for the team. This position reports directly to the CIO, and will assist in the formulation of functional, non-functional, and technical design specifications for the team’s projects.

As a Manager Application Development, your responsibilities will include:

Leading a team of developers using a SCRUM / AGILE methodology.

Conducting code reviews

Developing and maintaining application source code, in PHP and other languages.

Developing and maintaining data for all WBD software development initiatives.

Assisting management in guiding the development team.

Effectively translating OOP/TDD/BDD/DDD and other modern programming theories, models, and methodologies into functional and maintainable real-world code.

Performing additional duties as assigned.

The Manager Application Development position is well-suited for you if you:

Have a strong understanding of LAMP stack development environments.

Are knowledgeable in modern PHP development frameworks (e.g. Symfony)

Demonstrate proven knowledge with translating undocumented, outdated code into modern standards

Are experienced working in a DevOps team using Scrum Agile methodology and are familiar with test-drive or behavior-driven development, ideally with PHP unit testing frameworks like PHPUnit or Behat

Understand domain-driven design (DDD) and object-oriented analysis and design (OOAD) concepts and workflows

Have solid skills with software deployment, Continuous Integration (CI), and Continuous Delivery (CD) concepts, applications, and tools (e.g. Bamboo, CodeDeploy, CodePipeline, Vagrant, Docker, Jenkins)

Knowledge of fundamental cloud computing architectural concepts, especially with regard to reliability and scalability (e.g. multi-regional/multi-AZ, elasticity, auto-scaling)

Possess advanced skills in advanced, non-linear revision control workflows and are fluent in Git version control 

What you’ll need:

Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

Typically requires a minimum of five years of experience in PHP "full stack” development (PHP/HTML/CSS/JavaScript; front-end/back-end)

Willingness to work EST or CST business hours

What will set you apart:

Prior management experience of a development team

Demonstrated leadership and team coordination skills; strong ability to motivate and inspire a team

All associates may be asked to travel to varying corporate offices periodically.  Work cannot be performed from outside of the United States.

Compensation

Pay Range: $117,800.00 - $176,800.00 Annual
