The Bank Accounting team is part of the Corporate Controller’s department and is responsible for the financial books and records of the Bank subsidiaries and Trust Companies of Charles Schwab Corporation. This includes accounting for the Bank’s loans, deposits, and investment transactions. Functions of Bank Accounting team include: closing the books for the Bank Subsidiaries and Trust Companies, account reconciliations, monthly, quarterly and annual close and analysis, as well as working on projects tied to company-wide initiatives.
What you have5+ years GAAP accounting or finance experienceUndergraduate degree in accountingCPA preferredSolid understanding of GAAPSolid proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft ExcelStrong attention to detail and supporting documentationProactive, results-oriented operating styleProficiency with working with data using tools such as Google BigQuery, Microsoft SQL server, and Alteryx is a plus.Ability to identify issues and seek resolutionsEfficient time management skillsStrong communication and partnering skillsPeopleSoft Financials experience a plusPublic Accounting experience a plusFinancial services industry experience a plus
What you'll do:
Perform accounting duties as assigned to assist the team in maintaining the accounting books and records of the Charles Schwab Bank, Premier Bank, and Charles Schwab Trust bankAnalyze general ledger and sub-ledger account activityPrepare and record daily and monthly journal entriesReconcile balance sheet accounts and prepare related documentation as well as perform daily balancing activitiesPrepare quarterly reporting that is used in financial reporting and regulatory reportsPerform research to support business partners, auditors and/or regulator inquiriesAssist with special projectsMaintain process documentationExecute internal controls to ensure a SOX compliant control environmentIn addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
