Manager- Biomedical Engineering

In this role, the Manager - Biomedical Engineering will focus on the RFP process and managing equipment contracts in the Biomedical Department. They will also assist the Director in all departmental administrative and supervisory functions and assumes full responsibility for departmental performance in the director’s absence. This is full-time on-site position. Job Responsibilities: Performs administrative and supervisory functions including: Reviews and recommends biomedical equipment for purchasing for compatibility with existing equipment, Supervises Biomedical Engineering employees through interviewing/selection training performance evaluation grievance handling counseling/disciplining and termination, Analyzes cost and work schedules; setting priorities and expedites operations and repairs of hospital equipment, Reviews equipment service/maintenance contract bids for coverage and cost, Acts as liaison between equipment service/ maintenance contractors/vendors to assure compliance with contract provisions, Monitors preventive equipment maintenance program, In conjunction with Facilities Management personnel determines necessary power requirements for performance of biomedical/ scientific related equipment, Prepares and maintains departmental records including: Work orders to include services performed service time parts replaced parts/labor cost and equipment nomenclature; purchase orders for necessary electronic parts; maintenance schedule reports as necessary to comply with hospital JCAHO and state/federal requirements; enters and retrieves scheduled and corrective maintenance data from departmental computer. Makes recommendations to the department director regarding training requirements for staff for new and existing equipment. Provides electronic maintenance services on institution-wide biomedical and scientific instrumentation and equipment. Troubleshoots equipment for electronic failures. Repairs or replaces parts or modules as necessary or required by specifications. Calibrates equipment per manufacture s specifications. Provides routine and scheduled maintenance on all equipment accurately and within specified time. Provides consulting services to hospital staff to maintain optimal service use of hospital equipment. Maintains positive employee staff and visitor relations. Performs other related duties as assigned or directed in order to meet the goals and objectives of the department. Maintains regular and predictable attendance. Minimum Education and/or Training: Bachelor of Science Degree in electronics or biomedical engineering Associate degree in the above fields and five years experience in biomedical or engineering in lieu of Bachelor's Minimum Experience: Three (3)years experience in the biomedical engineering field with Bachelor's degree Five (5) years experience in the biomedical engineering field required with Associate's degree Some supervisory experience required. Experience with the RFP process and managing equipment contracts strongly preferred Experience with computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) preferred Extensive knowledge of medical equipment highly desired Experience working with multidisciplinary groups preferred Knowledgeable of codes and standards for regulatory agencies such as NFPA, DNV, and TJC preferred Knowledgeable of HIPAA regulations preferred Compensation In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
