Reporting to the Sr. Director of Surgical Services, the Business Operations Manager ensures appropriate scheduling, billing, access and utilization of the departments. The Business Operations Manager partners with department leadershipto improve performance and prepare for future growth.
**Requirements**
+ 3 to 5 years Directly related experience
+ Bachelors Degree
+ Strong analytical skills
+ Project Management
+ Strong computer/software skills required. Knowledge or clinical experience of procedural healthcare strongly desired.
**Responsibilities**
1. Manages the scheduling process and scheduling staff in surgery and endoscopy. Monitors procedure schedules forappropriate access and outcomes. Identifies and implements corrective actions to ensure effective schedules. Acts as a liaison for physician practices and schedulers regarding the scheduling process and block time.
2. Manages the billing processes for surgery and endoscopy. Ensures compliant and timely billing and corrections. Audits charging processes to ensure accuracy. Analyzes waste report for opportunities to correct preference cards. Works with clinical leaders to improve the accuracy of charges and decrease re‑work.
3. Participates in the assessment of new products, equipment, and services. Supervises the equipment coordinator. Participatesin the value analysis activities of the organization. Provides reports analyzing the performance or utilization of programs or equipment.
4. Ensures data integrity within utilized applications (medical record, Iqueue, etc.). Provides routine and ad hoc data reporting regarding operational, financial, and quality metrics. Serves as a member of the organizations' data use group.
5. Monitors and maintains the block schedule. Participates in the block committee. Provides data and makes recommendations for changes to the block schedule. Ensures access metrics are met. Collaborates in planning for future access and growth.
6. Monitors and investigates budget discrepancies, including supply and labor costs. Provides data, analysis and recommendations to clinical managers to improve performance.
7. Ensures compliance activities, including tissue tracking, implant documentation, and recalls.
8. Researches and responds to patient billing concerns. Works with practices to establish prepays. Responds to any internal requests for procedure pricing.
9. Provides general project management to the department as assigned.
