JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking an experienced and strategic MGR, Business Systems and Data Analysis with a specialized focus on healthcare data analytics and business insights. This role will lead a team responsible for driving data-informed decisions, specifically utilizing Epic and general ledger data and decision support metrics to enhance operational efficiency and support growth within the healthcare setting. The manager will play a critical role in delivering insights on patient volumes, operational stats, capital planning, and other essential metrics.

Team Leadership & Development:

Lead, mentor, and develop a team of business systems analysts and data analyst, who in turn provide education and training to end users.  Establish and monitor team goals and performance metrics in alignment with organizational objectives. Foster a collaborative culture focused on healthcare data analytics, operational insights, and strategic problem-solving.

Healthcare Data Analysis & Reporting:

Oversee the analysis and reporting of healthcare data from Epic and other EMR systems, delivering insights into patient volumes, reimbursement, payor mix, and capital utilization in conjunction with financial data. Utilize Excel and advanced tools such as Alteryx, Power BI, and Tableau to develop dashboards and visualization tools for financial and operational insights. Define and track healthcare-specific KPIs and benchmarks, ensuring data accuracy, compliance, and alignment with regulatory standards.

Business Systems Strategy & Improvement:

Collaborate across departments to understand healthcare business needs, translating them into system and data requirements. Partner with IT to implement and optimize Epic modules and other healthcare business and financial systems to support clinical and operational processes. Drive system and process improvements that support operational efficiency, scalability, and better decision-making.

Decision Support & Financial Planning:

Perform complex financial and decision support analysis, including assessments of new programs, resource allocation, volume trends, and capital planning. Develop financial reports and dashboards that support decision-making processes, focusing on cost efficiency, growth, and return on investment. Lead in developing operating and capital plans that align with healthcare system goals and regulatory requirements.

Data Governance & Quality Assurance:

Implement data governance policies for financial healthcare data, ensuring data integrity, consistency, and security. Lead initiatives to improve data quality and standardize data definitions across the organization. Work closely with finance and data management teams to support data validation and ensure reliable data sources for analytics.

Project Management & Implementation:

Lead project teams to implement system updates, integrations, and new technologies within healthcare settings, ensuring compliance and user adoption. Oversee testing, troubleshooting, and issue resolution for new systems or updates. Ensure smooth transitions and effective change management for all healthcare-focused implementations.

Continuous Improvement & Best Practices:

Conduct root cause analysis for healthcare data discrepancies or financial system issues, implementing changes to improve accuracy and efficiency. Stay updated on healthcare trends, best practices, and technologies relevant to data analytics and business systems. Recommend new methodologies and tools to enhance analysis capabilities and operational performance.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Computer Science, Accounting Information Systems, Data Science, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.

Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial business systems analysis, data analysis, or healthcare decision support, with at least 2 years in a leadership or managerial role. 

Licensure: N/A

Additional Skills/Requirements Required: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including data manipulation and complex functions), Power BI, and Tableau for data visualization. Experience with data analysis and understanding of decision support metrics, including operational statistics and capital planning. Strong SQL skills and familiarity with ERP, CRM, and various business and financial systems (e.g., Strata Decision Support, Workday). Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to present insights to senior healthcare leaders.

Additional Skills/Requirements Preferred: Healthcare analytics and Epic experience / certification or experience with relevant Epic modules (e.g., OpTime, Anesthesia). Familiarity with SQL programming language for database development and healthcare data reporting systems (e.g., Clarity, Caboodle) and regulatory standards. Project management certification (e.g., PMP, Agile) or experience in healthcare project management.
