This goal is supported by two near-term targets (2030) approved by the Science Based Target initiative (SBTi) and two strategic objectives focused on purchasing 100% renewable energy for our corporate operations by the end of 2025 and electrifying our vehicle fleet by the end of 2035. The Corporate Sustainability team measures progress towards the Company’s sustainability commitments and is responsible for voluntary and regulatory reporting of our greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and climate-related business impacts. The Manager Carbon Accounting is responsible for implementing CBRE’s carbon accounting protocols across business segments and corporate functions. In this role, you will build partnerships with internal teams and sustainability subject matter experts, external consultants, and leading organizations on carbon accounting and climate disclosure to ensure CBRE’s carbon accounting protocols are aligned with leading methodologies and third-party verification in alignment with credible standards. This role will collaborate with other leaders from across our business to ensure our GHG inventory is configurable to be compliant with proposed and newly enacted climate and sustainability reporting regulations globally. This position requires an experienced sustainability professional who has a deep understanding of carbon accounting protocols and reporting frameworks. The success of this role is dependent on establishing collaborative relationships across the organization to maintain a cross-functional community responsible for contributing data required to compile the GHG inventory. Acute attention to detail, ability to manage large, complex data sets, and confidence utilizing technology platforms is critical to success. What You’ll Do: •Serve as one of CBRE’s subject matter experts for carbon accounting, leading data-driven and science-based calculation methodologies to ensure continuous improvement of the Company’s global carbon accounting and reporting program. •Stay current with proposed and implemented changes to accounting protocols and standards, such as the GHG Protocol, ISO Net Zero Guidelines and SBTi Net Zero Standard and Building Sector Science-Based Target-Setting Guidance. •Lead the development of CBRE’s GHG inventory in close collaboration with many operational and functional leaders. Conduct a robust data collection process to acquire primary data from a variety of internal stakeholders globally for Scope 1, 2 and 3 GHG emission categories. •Oversee GHG inventory verification by a third-party. •Perform data quality reviews to identify and correct outliers and gaps. Complete extrapolation using existing data models and utilize enterprise technology platform to perform GHG emission calculations. •Maintain CBRE’s GHG Inventory Management Plan to reflect current data sources and methodologies. •Collaborate with Corporate Finance to develop, implement and maintain risk control measures (RCMs) to ensure financial-grade reporting. Develop and maintain detailed process maps and operating procedures to support assurance. •Leverage technology to continually improve our processes, enhance data models, and advance reporting capabilities to position CBRE to be compliant with evolving reporting requirements. •Lead client GHG emissions allocation process to support account teams and ensure responsiveness to client requests. •Prepare carbon accounting reports, dashboards, and other analytical tools to inform strategic decision-making and drive progress toward the Company’s net zero goal. •Collaborate with Director Net Zero to quantify the impact of decarbonization strategies and forecast CBRE’s GHG emissions glidepath. Collaborate on select initiatives to advance CBRE’s Net Zero Strategy for Corporate Operations. •Collaborate with Director Sustainability Reporting and Director Corporate Communications to provide data for climate-related disclosures, such as CBRE’s annual Corporate Responsibility Report, Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), and the CDP climate change questionnaire. What You’ll Need: •Bachelor's Degree preferred with 5-8 years of relevant experience. In lieu of a degree, a combination of experience and education will be considered •Willingness to take a new perspective on existing solutions. •In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Examples include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc. •Organizational skills with an advanced inquisitive mindset. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future CBRE carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate’s education, training, and experience. The minimum salary for this position is $100,000 annually and the maximum salary for the position is $120,000 annually. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience.
