Supervises laboratory employees.Coordinates work/assignment schedules and vacation/holidays.Ensures all employees are knowledgeable in current applicable technologies and skills.Trains employees in all lab standard operating procedures.Writes employee annual evaluations.Monitors employee performance, including counseling and discipline when necessary to ensure optimal employee performance.Manages day-to-day activities of the laboratory.Writes all standard operating procedures, including validations and audits.Performs workflow analysis for effective and efficient operation.Oversees lab financial performance, including patient charge integrity and preparation of annual budget.Reports adverse reactions, accidents, and deviations/variances and implements corrective action plans.Oversees capital asset acquisition and management.Troubleshoots equipment issues and ensures timely preventative maintenance and quality assurance.Writes reports of all processing activity for chart distribution.Liaises with blood and marrow transplant and other Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center faculty for research study design and implementation.Backs up clinical techs as necessary for all laboratory processing procedures.Supervises completion of laboratory operational components.Collaborates with blood and marrow transplant coordinators for feasibility and workflow.Implements planned validations and audits.Documents control and record retention.Manages inventory control, including product storage.Oversees assay development and validation.Oversees laboratory chemical hygiene and safety.Reviews processing charts and quality/audit procedures.Liaises with other internal hospital laboratories for optimal workflow.Supports regulatory/external relationships.Serves as primary contact and compliance assurance for regulatory agencies, e.g., Food and Drug Administration, state of Georgia, and Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy.Reports adverse events and deviations to external agencies.Writes, obtains approval, and maintains external contracts related to laboratory activity.Liaises with external vendors for contract compliance.Writes quality and validation reports for external dissemination.Ensures research activity documentation and training.Performs other related duties as assigned or directed to meet the goals and objectives of the department and the organization.Responsible for all aspects of managing and leading a team including interviewing, hiring, training, developing, directing work and processes, managing performance, recognizing, and rewarding employees.Mentor team members to encourage personal and professional growth.Encourage ongoing skill development by providing opportunities for continued education.#CHOAAllied
