How will you make an impact in this role?

The Manager – Client Management is responsible for fostering strong, strategic partnerships with global Payment Service Providers (PSP) and extra-large merchants to maximize American Express’s market share, charge volume, and merchant satisfaction by delivering the Blue Box value proposition.

Build and maintain strategic partnerships with global PSP and extra-large merchants, driving business growth through proactive client management with minimal supervision. Expand Blue Box’s business and achieve positive KPI outcomes, including charge volume, revenue, discount rate premium, and NPS (i.e. client satisfaction score). Identify opportunities to capitalize on revenue upside, develop comprehensive strategies for sustainable growth, and execute timely, tangible actions. Establish multi-layer relationships including clients’ senior management and sustain global partnerships with strategic PSP in conjunction with internal stakeholders across the regions. Partner independently with internal teams such as Partnership Management, Marketing, Pricing, Risk, and Compliance to address complex contractual matters and business needs. Serve as a thought leader by sharing extensive knowledge and experience with the Client Management team and the broader GMS and Blue Box organizations.

Minimum Qualifications

Full proficiency in Japanese and English. 5+ years of proven success in sales, business development, client management, or related fields. Results-oriented mindset with a strong ability to challenge the status quo. Exceptional negotiation skills and problem-solving capabilities in addressing ambiguity in fast-paced environments. Strong financial and business acumen, particularly within the payments industry and related fields. Deep understanding of acquiring business and PSP’s economics. Excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders across regions. Proven strategic thinking with a track record of identifying and capitalizing on opportunities. Demonstrated ability to influence key internal and external stakeholders and execute strategies to expand Blue Box businesses efficiently.

Preferred Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in a related field. Professional experience in Payment Service Providers (PSP).
