Manager Clinical Pharmacy
**Employment Type:** Full time **Shift:** Day Shift **Description:** **POSITION PORPOSE** + The Manager Clinical Pharmacy is plans, directs, and implements all clinical pharmacy services, and manages affiliated inpatient pharmacy services for all hospitals and patient care facilities within the Trinity Health Ann Arbor ministry in accordance with professional standards, regulatory and licensing agency policies, and federal and state laws related to the practice of pharmacy. + They direct supportive pharmacy services to managed care entities that enter into contractual relationships with the Health System. Collaborates with SJMHS, physician partners, and staff to coordinate and integrate the delivery of pharmacy services across the full continuum of patient care. Directs the dissemination of pharmaceutical product information to patients, health care professionals, and communities served by the Health System. + The inpatient pharmacy at Trinity Health Ann Arbor is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, servicing inpatients, the emergency department, operating rooms and multiple procedural areas. + Pharmacist oversight of medication preparation and distribution is supported by a well-trained pharmacy technician team, as well as state-of-the-art information systems and technology. Pharmacists provide comprehensive clinical services including: Interdisciplinary rounds, anticoagulation dosing/monitoring, pharmacokinetic dosing, antimicrobial stewardship, patient education, transitions of care, and staff education. Trinity Health Ann Arbor is also the lead location for the national Trinity Health Pharmacy Education and Advancement of Technicians (THE-PEAT) training program to educate pharmacy students to become PTCB, licensed Pharmacy Technicians. **WHAT YOU WILL DO** + Participates in setting the vision, develops goals and objectives, and facilitates staff participation to achieve the desired outcomes within the framework of SJMHS’ cost, quality, and service excellence goals. + Directs the activities of the Clinical Pharmacists/Specialists, Pharmacy Coordinators, and Pharmacists to provide high quality, cost effective, pharmacy services. + Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains Clinical Pharmacists/Specialists, Pharmacy Coordinators, and Pharmacists, develops job standards, provides coaching, monitors progress, and conducts performance evaluations. Provides guidance and direction to resolve complex employee relation matters. Monitors staff adherence to department and Health System policies and procedures and initiates corrective action when appropriate. + Assesses the need for clinical pharmacy services within the Health System, collaborates with the medical staff, nursing, and other disciplines to gather input and build support, designs and implements corresponding programs, and measures their effectiveness within the Health System’s goals related to quality, cost, service excellence, and patient outcomes. + Directs medication use evaluation (MUE), adverse drug event (ADE), clinical quality improvement (CQI) and investigational drug programs. Promotes appropriate drug utilization across full continuum of patient care through MUE, QI, and educational programs. + Integrates and standardizes clinical programs across SJMHS to provide continuity in the delivery of care to patients. + Monitors prescription costs and drug utilization trends across the full continuum of care and makes recommendations that promote the cost-effective use of pharmaceuticals. + Serves on Health System and Medical Staff committees and subcommittees that require an advanced knowledge of clinical therapeutics and pharmacoeconomics including the Medication Use Committee, CQITs, and various advisory committees. + Meets with Physician Advisory/Formulary Chair at least quarterly + Maintains a matrix reporting relationship with the Pharmacy director, Chief Medical Officer and Chief of Staff **MINIUMUM QUALIFICATIONS** + Education: Requires a PharmD. or Masters Degree in Pharmacy.
