Position Summary


Kootenai Health offers an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Research Manager to join our team! In this role, you will be responsible for planning, overseeing, and coordinating the daily operations of Clinical Research Services. You will serve as a clinical resource, utilizing your nursing experience and judgment in a clinical research setting. Additionally, you will apply your knowledge of clinical research to effectively manage research protocols and personnel.

 

Responsibilities

•    Guide investigators in conducting original research

•    Recruit, retains, trains, and develops staff to achieve operational excellence and high levels of employee and patient experience; manages ongoing individual and department performance

•    Translate strategic directives into tactical initiatives

•    Seek out and selects new research studies in alignment with strategic plan initiatives

•    Identify and pursue opportunities for process improvement

•    Ensure compliance with principles of Good Clinical Practice and with all federal, state, and local regulations regarding human subjects research through internal audit and the support and coordination of external monitoring and audits

•    Oversee submissions to local and national Institutional Review Boards (IRB)

•    Review and edits clinical research contracts for review by the Research Director, Contracts Team and General Counsel

•    Oversee financial resources, creates internal and external budgets for research protocols, assure financial accountability, and serves as primary liaison between sponsor, accounting, and research team

•    Act as super user of the research-specific applications and EHR

•    Engage in high-level outreach and networking opportunities, representing the research program to a variety of external audiences such as study sponsors, cooperative groups, Institutional Review Boards, academic partners, and pharmaceutical or device manufacturing companies

•    Act as a liaison with physicians, clinical staff, pharmacy, and other disciplines across the organization to promote quality conduct of clinical research

•    Proficiently perform all clinical research roles including clinical research coordinator and regulatory specialist

•    Serve as a clinical research nurse for studies as needed for protocol adherence

•    Liaise with Center for Nursing Excellence and Magnet program teams for nursing research projects

•    Travel by personal vehicle (with mileage reimbursement in alignment with current KH policy) to assigned research locations

•    Performs other related duties as assigned

•    Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field

•    Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals

•    Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function

•    Competent to meet age specific needs of the unit assigned

 

Requirements and Minimum Qualifications

•    Graduate of a nationally accredited nursing program

•    BSN required

•    Master’s degree in a related field preferred

•    Minimum 3 years’ clinical experience required; 2 years’ must be in clinical research

•    Previous management experience preferred

•    Licensed as a RN by the Idaho Board of Nursing OR licensure pending as documented by temporary licensure OR current RN licensure from a state participating in the "multi-state privilege to practice" compact with Idaho

•    Proficient in understanding and applying human subjects research regulations

•    ACRP or SOCRA certification preferred or willing to obtain

•    Proficient in word processing, spreadsheets and database management required

•    Travel as required

•    BLS required

 

Working Conditions

•    Must be able to lift or move up to 10 lbs

•    Must be able to maintain a standing and/or sitting position 

•    Typical equipment used in a clinical job

•    Must be able to stoop, crouch or bend

•    Must be able to push, pull, or transport heavy equipment

•    Must be able to assist in patient transfer

•    Travel required on a regular basis to assigned work sites
