ResponsibilitiesThe purpose of this role is to drive accountability, manage and support construction and field operations efforts within the assigned Region. This role is responsible for the operational oversite, from preconstruction to close-out, of a select group of projects and implementation of construction strategies and tactics that drive the strategic goals of the group.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Working in conjunction with the Preconstruction Team in Request for Proposal and development of initial project schedules, logistics plans and creative thinking that separates Shawmut from the competition.Develop comprehensive understanding of project strategy, client expectations and commitments and work with project teams to deliver on same.Once project is awarded to Shawmut, take early lead on setting firm construction plan for project including phasing, logistics and schedule. As team comes on board educate and convey overall project plan, help incorporate their suggestions into project.Work with Con Ops Director & Construction Managers to propose both field and office staffing for the project.Provide direction and leadership to project management and field staff on projects (as identified in partnership with Director) from project start to project close.Partner with PXs and CMs and other key stakeholders to identify and address project challenges.Serve as a construction expert and resource by using complex technical and problem-solving skills to support office and field staff on projects, especially those projects having trouble.Proactively identify project risk and develop and drive recovery plans to minimize damage to all aspects of the project including impact on schedule, financial results, client relationship, project team relationships, etc.In partnership with and support of the Director of Construction Operations, educate and enforce best practices and construction activities including policies, protocols and procedures.Drive and track meaningful internal project team meetings.Work with Con Ops Director, Sector Leads, and CMs to fill staffing needs and monitor downtime.Develop and participate in training programs for new employees and existing staff in both the field and office.Constant review of processes to develop efficient workflows for project teams.Through project controls, drive teams to financial success on projects. Qualifications Experience: 10+ years of construction experience. Education: Construction related bachelor’s degree required or equivalent experience.Complex project experience in various types of construction, including Hospitality, Commercial, Retail, and Education.Vast knowledge of all trades and all phases of the construction process from preconstruction to close-out.Ability to create and update construction schedules.Knowledge of the procurement process and ability to track/update.
