Manager - Costume Production

The Manager, Costume Production is responsible for the leadership of highly skilled costuming professionals who bring Disney entertainment costumes to life.  This role oversees and drives the production process, financial management, design implementation, client interface, and overall delivery of all intellectual property costumes for Disney Experiences globally.  In this role, the Manager leads the project team(s) in the development and execution of creative intent and will be accountable for, but not limited to: project goals and milestones, status reports, risk assessment, and overall financial targets and client satisfaction. The Manager is the champion in delivering all project objectives while adhering to company/departmental standards and policies 

The Manager, Costume Production reports to the Executive, Character Development & Programs

This is a full-time role.

Responsibilities/You Will

Provide leadership that supports the strategic vision of the Costuming organization.

Manage, guide, and develop a successful team of diverse Costuming leaders to foster a spirit of Performance Excellence through demonstrated leadership, coaching, mentoring, and inclusion.

Raise the bar on Guest service in this Cast-serving-Cast environment by presenting new and innovative ideas to help drive the Costuming organization to new heights.

Oversee and manage all financial and operating logistics within Costuming locations, including budgets, timelines, facility improvements, annual cycle planning, show quality, scheduling, labor management, and training.

Provide and maintain effective communication with executive leadership, and internal and external partners.

Partner with or manage the production and local teams to support new project development and integration; identify and verify the scope of work, budget and show readiness, contingency plan development, cost management, and schedule. 

Monitor operations for continual improvement to assure consistency, accuracy, and completeness; identify trends/areas of concern and proactively resolve them.

Make all appropriate decisions regarding costuming concerns and respond to emergency situations in the appropriate manner.

Provide connectivity and resolution to any Cast issues by meeting routinely with Partners.

Have basic knowledge of relevant collective bargaining agreements.  

Identify efficiencies and opportunities to reduce costs while maintaining a high-quality product.

Ensure current technology is used to optimize and continue to look for opportunities to implement technology that keeps us on the cutting edge.

Partner with and support the hiring and training process by providing information to the appropriate team.

Basic Qualifications/You Will Have

5+ years of experience leading salaried teams

5+ years of experience in theater, garment manufacturing, or fashion industries

Experience handling confidential information

Experience in the garment production process

Experience in cosmetology with a focus on wig production  

Experience managing, mentoring, and providing direction to salaried and hourly union and non-union Cast

Experience creating and managing a large-scale budget supporting operations and facilities

Experience negotiating and influencing with all levels of global partner

Experience solving conflict and gaining consensus in a way that all global partners feel heard and understood

Experience problem solving and assessing continuous improvement philosophies

Experience communicating (both verbal and written) with all levels of global partner

Experience leading and collaborating with creative teams

Ability to work flexible hours including weekends, nights, and holidays

Ability to work around all types of fabrics, fibers, and synthetic furs

Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 10% of the time

Ability to travel between work locations in a given day

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with the Disney Costuming, Character Brand, and Entertainment Organization

Experience in labor relations

Experience driving process and implementing decisions/outcomes

Fluency in Vietnamese and/or Spanish

Education

Advanced degree in Theater, Fashion, or related field is required
