Overview:
At HPE's Cyber Defense Center, we are committed to defending critical assets against ever-evolving cyber threats. As we enhance our capabilities, we're seeking a strategic leader who can harness their hands-on experience to help mature our First Response and Incident Command Team. This role calls for someone who can drive operational effectiveness under stress in a fast-paced and cyber environment.
What you’ll do:
Primary Responsibilities:
Incident Command: Lead the First Response and Incident Command team, ensuring a timely., coordinated, and effective response to security incidents. Assume the Incident Commander's responsibilities for the most critical incidents. Operational Excellence: Regularly review and refine incident management processes to make improvements based on operational data.Team Development: Cultivate an environment of continuous learning, ensuring the team is prepared to handle the evolving threat.Collaboration: Engage closely with Cyber Intel, Detection Engineering, Vulnerability Management, Advanced Threat, and other security teams to enhance communication, intelligence sharing, and combined strategies.Continuous Improvement: Champion security control enhancements, policy updates, and optimal resource allocation to strengthen the center's capabilities. Drive after-action reviews after significant incidents to capture and incorporate the lessons learned.Metrics and Measurements: Create, enhance, and maintain metrics and measurements to benchmark HPE against the industry and drive progress.What you need to bring:
Required Qualifications:
Experience: A minimum of 5 years experience in leadership roles in a SOC, ideally with a track record in handling high-stress incidents.Technical Proficiency: A solid understanding of network security controls, automation, threat actor behaviors, offensive security, and data and event analysis. Decision Making: Demonstrated ability to make timely and effective decisions in crisis situations.Communication Skills: Ability to effectively communicate intricate technical details clearly to a wide audience in written and verbal forms.Innovation: Drive to integrate forward-leaning tools, such as SOAR, Analytics, and AI, into our response framework.Desired Qualifications:
More than ten years of experience in cyber security space, preferably over a variety of security domains, including but not limited to incident response, IAM, data security, network security, security architecture, and vulnerability management. At least five years as a manager or senior manager leading a global SOCPrevious roles or training that emphasize teamwork, leadership, and strategic thinking under pressure.Experience in the armed forces, fire departments, or crisis management teams handling intricate incidents is a plus.Education and Experience:
A Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred. However, relevant experience in the field will also be considered. Advanced degrees are advantageous.
Certification: OSCP, GSOC, GCIA, GX-IA, GMON, CISSP, CISA, CRISC, CISM
