Manager, Data Governance 

This Is What You’ll Do:  

Establish and administer an enterprise data governance implementation roadmap including strategic priorities for the development of information-based capabilities. Responsible for improving the quality and managing the protection of sensitive data and information assets. Roll out an enterprise-wide data governance framework, with a focus on the improvement of data quality and the protection of sensitive data through modifications to organizational behavior policies and standards, principles, governance metrics, processes, related tools, and data architecture. Define roles and responsibilities related to data governance and ensure clear accountability for stewardship of the company’s principal information assets. Drive the data strategy implementation into the business, ensuring that business requirements and architecture align to business needs, and that the analytics and engineering teams remain 'on strategy' to maximize the value of OPI’s investment in data governance. Serve as a liaison between Business, Functional areas, and technology to ensure that data related business requirements for protecting sensitive data are clearly defined, communicated, well understood, and considered as part of operational prioritization and planning. Develop and maintain inventory of the enterprise information maps, including authoritative systems and owners. Serve as a point of escalation for governance, data quality and protection issues, and works closely with Business and Functional area leadership to improve the quality and value of core data assets. Respond to regulatory protection requirements as well as support the strategic requirements of the department. Facilitate the development and implementation of data quality standards, data protection standards and adoption requirements across the enterprise. Define indicators of performance and quality metrics and ensure compliance with data related policies, standards, roles, responsibilities, and adoption requirements. Liaise with Senior Management, comprising resources from the Business, Functional areas and IT business and operations functions, to achieve their objectives; resolve issues escalated from Business and Functional areas to data governance representatives. In conjunction with IT, provide progress reports to Senior Management and oversee periodic updates to the Department Data Governance Roadmap. Coordinate external data sources to eliminate redundancy and streamline expenses related to those services. Identify new business opportunities pertaining to the use of information assets to achieve efficiency and effectiveness in the marketplace; represent data as a strategic business asset at the Senior Management table.

This Is What It Takes:

Bachelor’s degree in information management, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field required Master’s degree in information management, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field preferred 5-7 years of experience in data modeling and data architecture 3-5 years in a leadership or management role with strong understanding of data architecture and data governance principles and practices. Extensive experience in data warehousing, BI, and designing data products, including data lakes, data lake houses, data warehouses, data mesh, and operational data stores. Proficiency in conceptual, logical, physical, and dimensional modeling, with a proven track record of designing conformed dimensions across various business units. Skilled in data modeling tools like Azure Synapse Analytics, PowerDesigner, PowerBI, IBM Data Architect, Oracle Designer, and Erwin. Strong experience in data governance and management using tools like Alation, Collibra, Informatica, Atlan, and IBM IGC. Knowledge of industry-leading data quality, data protection practices, and regulatory requirements related to enterprise information management. Solid background in ontology, taxonomy, semantics, and computational linguistics, with a focus on W3C standards such as JSON, XML, RDF, RDFS, OWL, and SKOS. Proficiency with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and analytical data stores (Snowflake, Redshift, Hadoop). Experience with data integration tools like Informatica, Talend, CloverDX, and DBT, supporting both structured and unstructured data formats. High proficiency in SQL and Python for data analysis, profiling, data design, mapping, and data flow logic to support the implementation of designed data structures. Proficiency with reporting and visualization tools such as Tableau and PowerBI. Experience in technology assessment with the ability to make strategic recommendations to senior leadership. Proven leadership skills with experience in team management and cross-functional collaboration across IT, data analytics, and business teams. Skilled in Agile development methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban, for data product development and delivery. Knowledge of risk data architecture, data governance practices, and emerging industry trends, with experience in change management, performance measurement, and technology solutions. Strong consulting skills with demonstrated experience in change management, culture change, and communication. Recognized subject matter expert capable of influencing data strategies and execution within organizations.
