Summary:
The Manager of Default Expense Management will report to the Director of Default Expense Management and work closely with the internal operational departments, as well as external vendors. The primary responsibility is ensuring state and federal regulations, agency guidance and policy and procedures are followed. In addition to compliance, mitigating risk and loss exposure by ensuring strict compliance with review and payment of over allowable fee requests, invoice payment recoverability coding, and maximum recovery of offsets and billbacks. The Manager of Default Expense Management must demonstrate a strong knowledge of rules/regulations for FHA, VA, USDA, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac expense reimbursement. The Manager will provide detailed expense loss analysis and recovery reporting on a daily/weekly/monthly basis.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Examines documentation and processes to ensure control points are executed as well as adherence to regulatory and agency guidance, policies and procedures.
Assist in identification of business drivers and trends as well as development and execution of strategic plans to address trends in expense losses.
Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with vendors and internal employees and maintaining them over time.
Responsible for ensuring payment of over-allowable fees and costs are in compliance with company policy.
Identifies and resolves problems in a timely fashion. Continuously analyzing non recoverable expenses to identify ways to reduce losses in all areas where applicable.
Conduct quarterly attorney round tables to obtain feedback on invoice management process. Assess current state of process and make change where applicable.
Work closely with Director of Expense Management to reconcile and report out on Non Recoverable expenses monthly.
Conduct in-depth review of vendor A/R reports. Identify internal and external areas of opportunity. Complete review and payment, if applicable, within allotted timeframe.
Law Firm SPOC for all expense related issues.
Comply with all company policies and procedures.
Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
Other Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Work to address all regulatory changes internally and with external partners.
Keep Director informed of all trends and problems, including but not limited to, avoidable losses and compliance problems that will create an "out of compliance" condition or expose Freedom to any risk of exposure or liability.
Establish and foster a work culture at all levels within the operation, which is positive, collaborative, respectful, and capable of driving long term operational sustainability.
Work with management to develop and implement new or revised processes and guidelines.
Review of current reports and assistance with identification of new reports, including ensuring department SLAs are met.
Management responsibilities, including hiring and training employees, directing work, monitoring and completing performance evaluations, employee recognition and discipline, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position has direct reports. Manages staff and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent and seven (7) years required
Bachelor’s Degree from a Four (4) year College or University and to eight (8) years of training experience or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
Must have at least two (2) to four (4) years of experience in residential mortgage servicing or financial services industry.
