As a Manager Dry Etch Process Development Engineering, you will be responsible for continuously improving the capabilities of the R&D process organization. This team is responsible for developing new processes and equipment technology to meet Micron’s NAND Program objectives!

You will set strategy for future technology development and engagement with suppliers to develop the processes and equipment needed to meet Micron’s technology roadmap. You will also work closely with the other Process Development teams, Process Integration, Manufacturing Development, and Planning teams to develop robust processes to prepare for pilot ramp and transfer while participating in the worldwide Dry Etch equipment and alignment teams!

Additionally, you will help foster career development for the members of your team and maintain a safe environment by ensuring safety policy is followed for new processes, equipment, and personnel. 

In this role, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: 

Manage efforts and setting the strategy for developing process technology for the assigned products in Process R&D 

Program and Project Management:  

Provide day-to-day project management and technical advice for your process development team. 

Manage the needs of multiple customers to set priorities for your team. 

Resolve yield and defect issues related to your process area. 

Collaborate with the Manufacturing Development Engineering team to meet R&D product quality and cycle time goals. 

Work with R&D Management, Process Integration and High-Volume Manufacturing Sites to regularly align on project requirement, priorities, and timelines. 

Engage manufacturing sites, Manufacturing Integration and Central Teams to provide technical direction and maintain alignment between production and R&D. 

Drive continuous process and efficiency improvements to meet the needs of PI and manufacturing by effectively engaging with equipment development team and suppliers. 

Interact with equipment and chemical vendors to ensure alignment and timely progress on our roadmaps, as well as foster a positive relationship. 

Performance Management:   

Partner with your reports to build long/short-term goals and projects that meet the needs of the Technology Development department. 

Provide regular feedback to your team on performance, developing a career plan and mentoring your team members to support their professional development. 

Set and communicate performance goals for the team, and conduct goal-based performance evaluations for all team members. 

Coach team members on technical as well as soft skills (presentation skills, risk management, decision making, vendor interaction, etc.) 

Recognize and reward Micron team members for outstanding performance. 

Recruit both external and internal candidates to fill headcount in the group. 

Provide conflict resolution if issues arise. 

  

Qualifications: 

Minimum five years of process development experience at Micron or equivalent experience at another company, or experience in a people leadership role at an R&D or high-volume manufacturing site. 

In-depth knowledge of Plasma Dry Etch Technology.  

Positive relationship building skills, both with internal and external customers. 

Demonstrated structured problem-solving capabilities 

Strong interpersonal skills (written, verbal and presentation) 

Experience in being a mentor to manage the performance of direct reports 

Ability to seek opportunities for continuous improvement, as a team member, leader and for the organization 

Education: 

PhD or M.S in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, plus 5 years or greater in the semiconductor industry or 

B.S. in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering  in the semiconductor industry or 10+ years of experience.
