Manager - Environmental Safety
Location: METROHEALTH MEDICAL CENTER

Biweekly Hours: 80.00

Shift: 7:00 am - 3:30 pm

Summary:

Oversees and develops a systemic program to promote best practices in the Joint Commission (TJC) Environment of Care (EOC) and Environmental Safety for all facilities in MHS, including hospitals and ambulatory care locations. Understands, explains, and objectively applies Environment of Care standards. Serves as the assistant Environmental Safety Officer for The MetroHealth System. Co-chairs the MetroHealth System Environment of Care Committee and chairs assigned sub-committees.

Qualifications:

Required: Bachelor's Degree in Occupational/Industrial Safety and Health, Biology, Chemistry or related field or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in addition to the experience stated below. Five years of industrial/institutional safety experience. Two years' experience in a healthcare environment Working knowledge of regulatory/accrediting agencies, e.g., Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Department of Transportation (DOT), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), The Joint Commission (TJC), National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA), Underground Storage Tank Regulations (BUSTR). Prior experience conducting training programs. Proficiency with Microsoft Office. Reliable transportation to travel between facilities. Ability to create spreadsheets, graphs, and statistical analyses using Microsoft Excel. Ability to interact effectively with a wide range of cultural, ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Preferred: Master's Degree in Occupational/Industrial Safety and Health, Biology, Chemistry or related field or equivalent Certification in Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response.
