Manager - Farm Program - Trinity Oakland
**Employment Type:** Full time **Shift:** **Description:** **POSITION PURPOSE** The Manager of Farm Programming is responsible for the overall programmatic success of the farm, including management of all staff. The Manager will create a welcoming environment that promotes community health, education, and engagement. The Manager will initiate and manage programs such as the collaborative Farm Share, produce-to-patients, and clinically integrated programs with health system partners as well as external community health programs. The Manager is responsible for forging and maintaining relationships in the community and with health system partners. This position supports strategy development, designs interventions, operationalizes the strategy, leverages resources and partnerships to serve those experiencing food insecurity or who have a clinical or social risk factor for a diet related chronic disease. Actively works to improve health outcomes for these groups, while working to eliminate racial, ethnic, and economic disparities in these outcomes. The position is also responsible for spearheading the Farm’s data collection and evaluation plan. This position will report to the Director of Food is Medicine and The Farm at Trinity Health. **REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE** Minimum: Bachelor’s degree Preferred: Degrees in business administration, agriculture, or public health preferred. . **Related Experience** Minimum: 2 years of experience with managing complex programs, including sustainable agriculture and public health. Preferred: 3-5 years experience in sustainable agriculture, program management, community health **Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities** Minimum: Strong leadership experience. Strong communication skills. Ability to manage budgets and schedules. Preferred: Strong knowledge of sustainable agriculture. Knowledge of community-led programming. Experience integrating with health care. Experience with Farm Share (also known as CSA) management, community health, and sales and marketing **ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES** Oversight and management of the hospital-based farm. Includes oversight of staff, annual crop planning, food safety, community partnerships and more. Manages and provides direction to the Farm colleagues, oversees the works schedules and assignments, provides coaching and mentoring, as well as performance management to the CHWB colleagues. Ensures compliance with the hospital’s or regional personnel policies when operating the department. Oversees and expands the St. Joe's Farm Share (CSA) program to increase food access, increase revenue for local farms, and grow a vibrant community of members from diverse backgrounds. Creates and maintains robust relationships with internal and external community groups. Will be an active partner with community groups; will increase visibility of Farm programming through tours and presentations; will create a welcoming environment for community engagement at the Farm. Manages the evolution and creation of clinically integrated programs such as The Farm Share, healthy food packs, and produce prescriptions, to reduce food insecurity in our community. Convene community and clinical partners to create innovative solutions to best serve our most vulnerable populations. Creates and manages budgets and financial reporting in partnership with regional director. Assures that appropriate or required program documentation is maintained for accurate reporting of the programs for community benefit compliance and/or state and federal grant appliance. Assures requirements for data collection include meaningful assessments of the programs provided to the community. Partners with the regional director and development team to create robust funding streams. Assists with crop production, intern management, and events as needed. Oversees food safety plans, creates standard operating procedures for safety and efficiency, Develops long- and short-term goals, objectives, plans and budgets or forecasts for Farm programs to ensure continued quality of services. Aligns all programs to organizational mission and values. Creates a culture of safety and respect for colleagues and community members. Performs other related duties as assigned. Maintains the confidentiality of information acquired pertaining to patient, physicians, colleagues, and visitors to St. Joseph Mercy Health. Discusses patient and hospital information only among appropriate personnel in appropriately private places. Behaves in accordance with the Code of Conduct, Service Excellence Standards, and the Mission, Vision and Values of SJMH.
