Job Description SummaryThe Manager Financial Accounting is responsible for leadership of the general accounting areas of Southeast Health and assigned subsidiaries. Responsibilities include timely preparation of monthly and year-to-date financial statements, annual operating and capital budget preparation, annual audit, account reconciliations, financial analysis, capital tracking, grant accounting, statistical tracking, intercompany transaction management and productivity monitoring reports. The Manager Financial Accounting must be able to facilitate the flow of information and communication between accounting and other areas of the organization as well as outside agencies. The manager is responsible for leadership and participation in improvement events and must use critical thinking skills for problem resolution.
Job DescriptionEssential Functions Ensures accurate and timely preparation of monthly and annual financial reporting within the 5-day close deadline.Effectively manages day-to-day operations of the general accounting team and effectively participates in all accounting functions including payroll, accounts payable and medical group accounting.Ensures accuracy of productivity reportingEffectively leads capital and operating budget preparation and reportingManages cash, investment and debt accounts effectively and accuratelyAccurately analyzes and adjusts assigned reserve fundsResponsible for timely balance sheet reconciliationsManages grant accounting to ensure grants are identified and requirements are met according to grant awardsPossesses and applies understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and follows Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) requirements including new pronouncements.Assists management and administrative team members as well as external auditors as neededWork with Excel, Workday, Axiom and Epic to provide analysis and reporting as neededDirect ReportsStaff AccountantSenior AccountantsQualificationsMinimum Experience Required3 to 5 years of accounting leadership experience requiredExperience working in a fast-paced environment?Minimum Experience Preferred3 to 5 years in healthcare financial accounting or accounting management experience preferredWorkday experience preferred.Minimum Education RequiredBachelor of Science degree in accounting

CPA or MBA

Required Skills/Abilities

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Microsoft ExcelDemonstrated ability to communicate and organize thoughts, concepts, ideas verbally and in writing with precise word usage, clear meaning, good presentation, vocabulary, grammar and correct spellingProven leadership experienceKnowledge and application of accounting principlesKnowledge of GASB requirementsMaintains poise under pressure and is able to navigate sensitive conversations and relationshipsAbility to communicate with Executive Management and employees at all levels
