Manager Financial Reporting and Accounting
Job Summary

Manages internal and external financial reporting, accounting, and audit activities for Corewell Health and subsidiaries, including Priority Health. Responsible for accurate tracking of a $4.2 billion fixed asset portfolio to ensure relevant, reliable and timely information is clearly communicated to key decision makers and constituents. Leads highly engaged team of financial analysts and accountants to work directly with business owners to understand the financial implications business decisions and transactions, proposed and historic. Manages strong internal control environments, general ledger oversight, efficient and effective transactional finance activities, and ensures all financial reports are in accordance with generally accepted accounting principals.

Essential FunctionsManages the financial statement production and general ledger maintenance processes. Coordinates activities of entire organization to ensure an efficient and accurate generation of monthly financial results. Responsible for the effectiveness of key internal controls over the finance close process.Manages accurate tracking and maintenance of a $4.2 billion fixed asset portfolio for the organization.Provide analyst support for key functions within Corewell Health. Prepares monthly analysis of financial statements and makes recommendations to leadership based on findings.Assists with activities of independent auditors and ensures that all information requests are prepared timely and accurately.Works directly with finance leadership in achieving department goals and completing corporate projects. Stay informed of changes to GAAP, Statutory Accounting Principles, and State of Michigan accounting policies and communicates the effect of those changes to senior management. Recommend and develop enhancements to the organizations financial reporting that will further aid management's effectiveness.Consults with operations management on accounting and finance related matters.In collaboration with other Corewell Health departments, provide information for the preparation of tax, surveys, and other regulatory filings for Corewell Health.Works collaboratively with Core Finance Systems team to ensure that financial systems and upgrades are properly supported.Manages the activities of professional and support employees who are engaged in financial reporting. Facilitates the training and continuing education of employees. Provides direction and support to subordinate employees to ensure effectiveness and efficiency. Selects, trains, develops, and evaluates subordinates and initiates personnel actions in accordance with departmental policies and organization philosophy.

Qualifications

Required

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in accounting, finance, business, healthcare administration, or related field5 years of relevant experience progressively responsible experience in a finance or accounting role with a focus on financial reporting, preferably in a healthcare setting

Preferred

2 years of relevant experience in a supervisory or management experienceExperience in public accountingExperience in healthcare or insurance industryCertified Public Accountant (CPA) - State of Michigan
