**Job Summary and Qualifications**
JOB SUMMARY
The Manager of Foundational Storage Services will be responsible for providing management and technical oversight for systems engineering and administration. This position entails technical analysis, certification, and oversight of all enterprise data storage systems, including 300+ PB of storage, 2500+ hosts, SAN fabrics, and multi-vendor/multi-tiered solutions across 3 data centers and 3 co-locations. The Manager will manage a technical staff of 6-10 people, handling budgetary responsibilities, hiring and firing, merit/performance planning, and departmental policy decisions. Additionally, the Manager will serve as a working manager, providing specialized analysis, testing, and strategic direction for HCA Storage Services. Responsibilities also include administering storage hardware and software in a multi-platform environment, creating technical documentation, managing projects, developing processes and procedures, designing and engineering systems, resolving issues, and delivering technical presentations. The Manager will provide local and remote technical support and consultation to ensure that service-level goals and objectives are achieved.
The Manager will require cross-platform knowledge and expertise, the candidate should have a strong working knowledge of following technologies; Dell EMC Data Domain, PowerMAX, Unity, Isilon, NetApp, Pure, Cybernetics, various enterprise protection technologies (i.e.- Commvault, Zerto, Dell EMC Networker, Dell EMC Data Protection Advisor, Dell EMC SRDF) and storage management tool administration (i.e. Unisphere, OnCommand).
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Management of Foundational Storage Services:
o Manage technical and business relationships with vendors and third-party support.
o Negotiate contracts and pricing for storage hardware and software.
o Direct activities for all storage and software, including server components (HBAs, firmware, OS levels, maintenance levels, drivers, patching software, and other host components).
o Supervise problem determination and resolution activities, including troubleshooting, and provide management reports and root cause analysis.
System Engineering and Technical Design:
o Manage system engineering and technical design for storage solutions across all platforms and application-specific tools and methodologies.
o Oversee the HCA enterprise and open system storage.
o Respond to requests from system engineering and IT administration staff for storage hardware or software.
Project and Product Management:
o Oversee product evaluation, investigate, and analyze vendor tools and solutions.
o Develop project plans and cost/benefit estimates, and manage project teams.
o Resolve complex problems related to the interfaces and connectivity of multiple hardware platforms, operating systems, database management systems, and other applications.
o Assist in developing business continuity solutions and disaster recovery plans.
Strategic Planning and Documentation:
o Identify and document the IT&S Storage Roadmap, develop storage best practices, create white papers, and decide on storage technology direction.
o Coordinate and lead technical design reviews, create and maintain technical project plans, and facilitate technical meetings.
o Ensure certification for multiple hardware platforms and their interoperability in complex environments.
o Manage patch management, release management, and configuration management.
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree preferred
EXPERIENCE
7+ years of relevant work experience with 3+ years of management experience required
OTHER/SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS
• Minimum 5 years of experience leading a technical team, preferably within HCA ITG.
• Demonstrable experience in creating, leading, and advancing a team under a united vision; coaching and mentoring through career path opportunities and obstacles.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to interface with various levels within IT&S and the corporate environment, as well as managing relationships with division partners.
• Excellent written and communication skills.
• Excellent critical thinking skills.
• Capable of working effectively under a high pressure and demanding work environment
• Must be customer-oriented and recognize the importance of customer service and meeting service level commitments
• Must be a self-starter and work effectively without supervision.
• Must have good organizational resource management skills
