The Role

Based in our Arlington, VA headquarters, the Manager of Fund Accounting is responsible for the Company’s reporting, disclosure and supporting regulatory and governance processes for the Company’s unconsolidated real estate investments.  This role will oversee or perform the following tasks and any related analysis, including but not limited to:

Reporting of financial information for monthly, quarterly and annual investor packages and audited financial statements.Coordination and planning for the respective annual audits and quarterly reviews (to the extent required) with the independent accountants, including preparation of timeline, coordination of requests, and issue resolution.Oversight of monthly fund level close and consolidation.    Identification and resolution of accounting, reporting, disclosure and governance related to GAAP or tax accounting issues in coordination with Accounting Policy, Legal, Property Level Accounting, Operations or Tax.Oversight of periodic equity contribution and distribution activity.Assist in the preparation of Corporate external reporting for fund related disclosures.

Additional Job Functions:

Preparing and maintaining process and associated internal control documentation for Sarbanes-Oxley.Support the Finance, Operations and Tax teams for annual or ad hoc investor meeting materials and required compliance reporting.Supporting ad hoc requests and projects from senior management.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in accountingMaster’s degree preferred

Experience:

4+ years of relevant accounting experience.Supervisory/team lead experience in an accounting/financial role.Public accounting experience and CPA preferred.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

Corporate accounting experience with an understanding of the monthly close and reporting process.Proven leadership skills and the ability to manage and develop staff.  Project management skills and accounting system knowledge.Ability to problem solve independently while building relationships and working collaboratively at all levels of the organization.Detail oriented self-starter willing to take ownership to develop and implement process enhancements & business solutions.Written and oral communication skills including the ability to effectively communicate details of financial information prepared.Computer skills and experience with pivot tables and Excel functions/formulas.Strong initiative and ability to work independently.Organizational, prioritization and time management skills are essential.
