Manager - Government Relations & CSR

Position Summary

We are looking for a Government Relations and CSR Manager to join our Global Relations department to:

To develop and enhance the relationship of Samsung with the governments across MENA region in order to pro-actively identify, assess, and manage risks and opportunities resulting from governments activities, policies and regulations. Ultimately, contribute to the development of a conducive policy environment which enables Samsung to prosper and grow in the MENA region.

Plan and operate social responsibility activities and sustainability initiatives to respond to potential business risks preemptively and enhance corporate reputation. Contributes to make social development by doing a role as a corporate citizen and proceeding impactful social responsibility activities.

Role and Responsibilities

Pro-active Monitoring and Analysis:

Prepare Weekly Policy monitoring report to inform the Samsung leadership about government developments across the MENA regionPrepare Ad hoc detailed analysis on specific issues relevant for SamsungAssess policies, laws, regulations, movements of key people, and any other developments, to identify risks and business opportunities which could affect Samsung's operations in MENA regionCollect information on public investments and strategic projects in order to identify B2G and B2B opportunities across MENAMaintain up-to-date policy sensing and monitoring dashboard on key areas: taxation, employment, environment, trade, digital economy, product standardization, data privacy, business operations.

 Stakeholder Engagement and Networking:

Assess on a regular basis the roles and influences of key stakeholders in MENA regionDevelop high-level engagement plan to build relationship with key stakeholdersEngage directly with government officials on urgent issues affecting company’s operationsProvide government relations and external affairs advice for identified projects across the MENA regionSupport the business in thinking strategically about how to unlock new engagement opportunitiesMaintain political awareness in relevant MENA countries, including UAE / KSA, Egypt, Morocco, and changing geopolitical dynamics that impact the regionPrepare government relations communications and materials for stakeholder engagement

Advocacy:

Engage with Samsung colleagues at country level to implement effectively these advocacy plansRepresent Samsung in forums across MENA to share perspectives on key policy and regulatory issuesSupport subsidiaries to develop advocacy plans to drive forward yearly engagement strategies

Internal and external communication across MENA

Build crisis management and strategic communications capabilities to communicate with government stakeholders if neededProvide strategic guidance and operational support to subsidiaries and relevant colleagues in MENAWork closely with HR and PR teams in creating newsletter articles for MENA newsletter, Global newsletter, Social media accounts, and Global CSR website.Own relationships with other teams throughout the company, including Marketing, Legal, General Affairs, CSR, and others

Skills and Qualifications

7+ years of relevant experience in international companies, consulting firms, institutions at public sectorsPrevious strong background across MENA region, UAE, KSA, Turkey, Egypt, Morocco, Jordan, etc.Prior experience across technology, FMCG, highly regulated industry and / or public affairs advisory side a plusHigh analytical skills capable of reviewing and developing white papers, advocacy positions, and economic / geopolitical analysisHands-on expertise and knowledge on public policy development, advocacy, and public affairs initiativesStrong network with Dubai and Abu Dhabi governments as well as those in other priority countriesExperience in developing and implementing GR strategy, plans and activitiesKnowledge in policy and regulations assessmentAbility to coach and support senior leaders on public speaking and stakeholder engagement opportunitiesExcellent communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation) especially with public sectorExcellent problem solving skills with impeccable attention to detailUniversity degree in reputable university, Master degree is plusA strong track record of balancing a corporate controllership with significant ad hoc project experienceAbility to work diligently, manage strict deadlines, and summarize complex issue in a clear and concise way
