Manager I, Maintenance Ops
Responsibilities This role oversees Line and Heavy Maintenance operations for our Goodyear Account, ensuring all necessary technical data, tools, equipment, materials, and team members are available and adequately prepared to accomplish authorized maintenance tasks. This role combines the responsibilities of managing routine and non-routine maintenance for our Line Stations and coordinating essential heavy maintenance activities with external maintenance providers to ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards. Ensures the maintenance location has current technical resources, tools, and materials necessary for all approved maintenance tasks. Oversee staffing requirements and manage team assignments to support Line and Heavy Maintenance operations effectively. Act as the primary quality liaison with Essential Maintenance Providers (EMP) for all contracted maintenance, ensuring compliance with company standards and FAA regulations. Monitor the quality, status, and cost of maintenance work in progress; review and approve non-routine maintenance items, including corrective actions, labor, and materials. Advise Maintenance Control on aircraft status, coordinate maintenance readiness with Fleet Planning and Material Services, and arrange necessary documentation (e.g., test and ferry flights). Work with EMP to implement process improvements that enhance quality, reduce costs, and streamline turnaround times. Ensure all aircraft paperwork is completed accurately and complies with FAA and company standards; maintain familiarity with the General Maintenance Manual (GMM) and Airworthiness Agreements. Collaborate with internal teams (Materials Department, Engineering, Maintenance Programs, Aircraft Records, and Planning) to ensure continuity and support for maintenance production. Participate in identifying and implementing metrics and improvement areas for maintenance programs to drive efficiency, quality, and cost savings. Evaluate individual task costs, determine airworthiness of discrepancy resolutions, and assess new techniques and technologies for quality improvement. Approve cost assessments by task and determine the airworthiness of maintenance resolutions. Contribute to aircraft delivery and return-to-service decisions, including scheduling and planning for incoming aircraft. Participate in selecting metrics and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance maintenance program effectiveness. Travel to stations for checks, as needed (50% travel). This role requires a proactive approach to managing both internal maintenance teams and external vendors, ensuring the highest quality standards and regulatory compliance across all maintenance activities. May perform other responsibilities as assigned. Responsibilities and duties may change when circumstances dictate (e.g., emergencies change in workload, rush jobs or technical developments). Qualifications High school diploma or GED (bachelor's degree preferred). 5-7 years' experience. 10-15 years (commercial aircraft maintenance experience preferred. 5-10 years of commercial aviation maintenance team leadership preferred. Must be able to quickly analyze and improve line maintenance work, flow, and synchronization ensuring efficiency. Must be able to effectively present ideas to senior management and maintenance team. Must be able to communicate effectively with all interfacing co-workers, vendors, and suppliers. Ability to drive, lead, and develop the line maintenance team. Ability to read wire diagrams and disseminate various levels of work instruction related to line maintenance and aircraft modification. Must demonstrate the ability to use and adapt to standard MS computer software and various web applications. Must have a current A&P license. Must have a valid driver's license. Must have a valid passport. Must be willing to support aircraft at remote locations and countries. Must be able to work various shifts. Must be able to climb and work off of aircraft stands and compartments. Experienced and current FAA certification or parts and materials. Experience with continuous improvement lean or ISO preferred. Domestic & International travel under 50% of time. Exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.
