The Merch Planning Manager role supports all aspects of the Omni Channel Commercial Plan which includes implementation and maintenance of Category Management promotional tactics such as overlays, promotions, and commercial plan as well as the shared responsibility for achieving overall category profitability. Responsible to lead the period planning process, marketing programs, fuel rewards, ads, temporary price reductions, and displays. Acts as a key contact point to align Advertising, Marketing, Category and Pricing to the commercial plan. This includes cross functional interaction with various areas of the business (e.g. Advertising, Marketing, Supply Chain, etc.)
• Builds the Commercial Plan based off business needs and insights.
• Support category initiatives by integrating initiatives into the commercial plan, ensure growth categories are represented.
• Partners with the Category Managers, Marketing & Advertising, eComm and Pricing Team to coordinate all the key elements of the promotional plan.
• Responsible for ensuring weekly promotional tactics align with commercial plan.
• Coordinates weekly ad activities, including cross department events & vendor programs.
• Manages the promotions calendar to ensure proper coordination and timing of all key activities.
• Ensure SPAC activity aligns with new store openings, re-openings, and competitive activity.
• Track weekly performance and financial goals. Provide insights into trends.
• Responsible for developing the tracking reports and highlighting exceptions or insights.
• Utilize analytical tools that assist in category planning and execution.
• Collect, interpret, and provide fact-based input for defining innovation.
• Communicates the commercial plan: Sales Budgets, Promotional Spend, etc. to the appropriate functional areas and levels of management
• Maintain vendor relationships required to identify synergies, promote mutual growth, maximize resources, ensure consumer focus and capitalize on market opportunities.
• Partner with Category Finance to balance the spend and ROI for the promotional plan.
• Interact and partner with Supply Chain to ensure service level and execution against plans.
• Conduct regular visits to our stores & competitive stores and collaborate with Giant Field Merchandising to best understand and respond to needs/opportunities.
Required Skills:
Proficient in Microsoft office - Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access. Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field or equivalent experience. 3-5 years in retail grocery support role. Comprehensive and demonstrated diversity equity & inclusion knowledge and understanding
