Manager Invasive Cardiology

JOB SUMMARY

\n

The Manager Invasive Cardiology with demonstrated operational management skills and expertise, plans, organizes, supervises and performs clinical activities associated with the delivery of quality care to adults and geriatric patients undergoing invasive cardiovascular and electrophysiology procedures in the Heart Center. Using a high degree of professionalism, plans, implements and evaluates inpatient and outpatient care programs to assure an effective continuum of care.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE

\n\nEnsures quality care and testing of patients by following established guidelines of performance.\nPlans, organizes, supervises and/or performs clinical duties for Cardiac Catheterizations, Temporary Pacemaker Insertions, Intra-aortic Balloon Insertions, Electrophysiology, Ablations ICD Implantations, Brachytherapy, AAA, Stent Placements, and noninvasive procedures.\nPerforms pre and post procedure care. Collects and prepares catheterization data for procedures.\nPrepares and orients patients for all catheterization procedures, and answers related questions to make patient relaxed.\nEnsures safe transportation for patients within the Medical Center. Ensures monitoring of patients during transport, as needed.\nEstablishes staffing needs and scheduling requirements. Ensures adequate coverage, including on-call coverage.\nHires, develops and evaluates Invasive Cardiology staff, to include terminations, if required. Interviews, trains, counsels staff.\nEstablishes and implements ongoing Improving Organizational Performance programs to ensure compliance with hospital and applicable standards of Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) and other regulatory requirements.\nInitiates corrective action as needed. Maintains current and complete policies and procedures manuals.\nImplements and enforces radiation safety of the department including participating on the Radiation Safety Committee.\nDirects continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities to better serve customer needs and improve quality of services.\nMaintains effective communication system, including staff and management meetings, as well as required reporting.\nManages the department's operating budgets, and prepares and examines various statistical and financial reports for internal and external use.\nEnsures adequate inventory of and order catheterization labs supplies.\nEnsures procedure rooms are adequately stocked and pharmaceuticals are rotated and maintained in a secure area.\nPerforms routine calibration and maintenance of complex equipment and tell appropriate team members for fixes.\nEnsures cardiac cath labs are cleaned and maintained according to Infection Control policies and Operating Safety procedures.\n\n

KEY SUCCESS FACTORS

\n\nRequires thorough knowledge and ability to apply complex invasive cardiac and vascular values, instrumentation and techniques.\nRequires thorough knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy and physiology.\nAbility to work a flexible schedule; including early morning hours, and evening hours.\nManagement skills necessary to plan, organize and direct operational and capital equipment activities.\nDemonstrated interpersonal skills necessary to interact with all levels of team members and external customers.\nExcellent verbal and written communication and conflict resolution skills.\nProven capabilities in time/project management, fiscal management, quality improvement, research, customer relations, radiation protection and safety, and infection control.\nKnowledge of the features, functions, technical operations, and troubleshooting processes for the imaging and hemodynamic systems in a Cardiovascular and Electrophysiology Labs.\nKnowledge and abilities required to oversee and perform quality assurance and quality improvement activities.\n\n

QUALIFICATIONS

\n\n\n\tEDUCATION - Bachelor's or 4 years of work experience above the minimum qualification\n\tEXPERIENCE - 3 Years of Experience\n\tCERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION\n\t\n\t\tACLS (ACLS): Must have ACLS in 30 days of hire or transfer.\n\t\tBasic Life Support (BLS): BLS in 30 days of hire or transfer.\n\t\tARRT-R Radiography (ARRT-R), Cert Cardiac Device Spec (CCDS), Cert EP Specialist (CEPS), Medical Radiologic Tech (MRT), Reg Cardio Electrophysiology (RCES), Reg Cardiovascular Invasive Sp (RCIS): Must meet one of the following: American Registry of Radiologic Tech(ARRT-R) and MRT thru TX Medical Board, or Cardio Invasive Spec(RCIS), or Reg Cardiac Electro Spec(RCES), or Cert Electro Spec(CEPS), orCert Cardiac Device Spec (CCDS).\n\t\n\t\n
