GENERAL OVERVIEW:
Manages laboratory operations and is responsible for all employment related activities, budgets, fiscal performance and quality assurance. May also function as Technologist to cover departmental staffing requirements.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides leadership to staff to ensure quality patient care by utilizing the performance improvement model to correct quality issues. Ensures that compliance standards are met. (20%)Oversees the development/revision of procedure manuals and reviews and signs all written procedures yearly. (20%)Performs all steps necessary relative to hiring, evaluating, coaching, promoting, disciplining & discharging employees by following established HR policies. (20%)Prepares and maintains budgets. Maintains a fiscal awareness and continually strives to operate in a cost-efficient manner. (20%)Proactively investigates modern technologies as they become available. Pursues technologies that will enhance staff productivity while ensuring quality and cost efficiency. (20%)May also oversee the laboratory outreach program and/or function as Technologist as necessary.QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum
Bachelor’s degree in ASCP eligible program or equivalent combination of education and experience5 years in a clinical laboratory roleMeet ongoing education requirements for certificationMedical Laboratory Technician (MLT), Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or equivalentPreferred
