MANAGER-LABORATORY SERVICES Location Name *Northlake Campus Location US-IN-Gary ID 2025-12093 Category Laboratory Position Type Days FTE 1.0 Overview Assists the Director Laboratory Services in administrative and technical coordination of Northlake Campus (NLC) and Southlake Campus (SLC) Clinical Laboratories, and provides necessary oversight to Blood Bank Services. Works closely with Medical Director to ensure the needs of patients and medical staff are met in an efficient manner. Responsibilities PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES(*Essential Functions)
Operations: Assists the director in planning, organizing and directing all operations of the department to ensure the efficient, effective flow of patients, procedures, information and documents into and out of the department.
QA and PI: Develops a comprehensive department Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement plan.
Prepares departmental reports in a timely fashion.
Selection, Training and Competency Assessment: Participates actively in the selection, training and counseling of employees; assesses staff competency and completes performance evaluations in a timely fashion.
Policies and Procedures: Writes, reviews and implements departmental policies and procedures in collaboration with Medical Director.
Team Work, Organizational Improvement and Customer Satisfaction: Participates in multi-disciplinary teams and projects to improve organizational effectiveness.
Practices and promotes measures to improve customer satisfaction.
Financial Management and Stewardship: Prepares and administers service unit operating and capital budgets.
Optimizes resource utilization and meets productivity targets.
Safety: Promotes a safe work environment.
Enforcement of Policies and Regulatory Standards: Enforces hospital policies in a fair and consistent manner.
Periodically reviews the most current standards and ensures its full compliance.
Medical Technologist and Supervision: Performs the duties of a Medical Technologist and leadership of a laboratory section(s) as needed.
Qualifications JOB SPECIFICATIONS(Minimum Requirements)
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
MT (ASCP) and/or CLS (NCA).
MBA, MHA, MPA, or Master level preparation in laboratory / management sciences preferred.
Thorough understanding of regulations governing laboratory services.
Good understanding of financial and statistical tools.
Good understanding of recent issues and developments in the designated field.
Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Ability to provide compassionate patient care orientation.
Ability to lead and direct the work of others.
Must be consistent, fair, and have a positive attitude.
