The Manager, Learning & Development of Arup University is responsible for assessing staff technical capabilities, formulating learning strategies, and collaborating with global and regional leaders to meet learning requirements. They will lead a local Learning team, oversee the training cycle, and leverage internal and external resources to create new learning opportunities. 

The Opportunity

•    Assess Arup’s staff technical capability and industry trends to contribute to the formulation and execution of a global learning strategy for long-term business development and operation.
•    Analyze learning data and metrics to make informed decisions about learning strategies and program effectiveness.
•    In alignment with the global learning strategy, draft annual learning plans for identified strategic businesses and geographies, prioritizing learning solutions and ensuring an integrated, creative, and appropriate response to business goals.
•    Work collaboratively with Learning Clients, including Arup global and APAC regional business leaders, Skills Leaders, and the People/HR team, to ensure their learning requirements are met.
•    Provide professional learning guidance to business teams to address their unique local learning needs.
•    Ensure learning quality and manage the training cycle, from diagnosing learning needs to supporting subject matter experts in designing and delivering effective learning programs, and fairly evaluating and addressing feedback with relevant stakeholders.
•    Leverage internal technical strengths and external training providers to create new learning opportunities across teams and groups.
•    Nurture a learning culture within the firm and assess learning results and impacts.
•    As part of a global team of Learning professionals, contribute opinions on regional training needs in global planning and take responsibility for assigned global learning tasks, including leading the development and implementation of global learning programs. At the same time, lead a local team to address region’s specific learning requests to address local business contexts.

Is this role right for you?

•    University degree in training and development or a related field; alternatively, a university degree with a recognized qualification in adult education or workplace training.
•    More than 10 years of solid experience in adult learning, preferably in sizable professional services firms in the engineering or construction industry.  
•    Experience working across all aspects of learning and utilizing different methodologies and technologies, with the ability to select the most appropriate solutions, such as instructor-led training, group or round-table facilitation, peer-led learning, self-study, e-learning, and blended learning.
•    Experience in creating and executing learning strategies and programs, as well as experience in managing change and driving adoption of new learning initiatives and technologies.
•    Good understanding of new educational and training techniques and methods, and open to trying new things.
•    Fluent in English, with excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills; proficiency in more than one Asian language is a plus.
•    Proficiency in using and managing Moodle and other learning technologies.
•    Good people skills to build trusted relationships with stakeholders across teams and offices.  confident in interacting with people from different grades, cultures, and backgrounds.
•    Strong project management and budget management skills; organized with good attention to detail.
•    Able to attend meetings in late evening or early morning occasionally for collaboration with counterparts in other time zones.
•    A self-starter who can work independently with strong accountability.
•    Good team player, comfortable working with virtual teams.
