Primary objective

 

As the Manager Legal and Regulatory ABC, you will be supporting the growth and success of the business through the provision of professional legal and regulatory advice and services across Digicel Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao. As Manager Legal & Regulatory you are a member of the Management Team and will be leading and guiding the ABC Legal & Regulatory team that currently consists of one Legal Counsel as a team member. You will be reporting to General Manager ABC, the Group Head of Legal Affairs and Group Head on Regulatory Affairs.

 

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities

 

Ensures Market-wide compliance with legal and regulatory framework;
  Providing top-quality legal support (on e.g. commercial contracts, corporate, (land) acquisition and/or disputes, litigation, employment -HR matters-, regulatory, corporate governance) and compliance matters (corporate housekeeping, licensing, shareholder's resolutions)
  Keeping abreast of new legislation and current industry trends and regulatory matters which impact the company and advising key stakeholders on the same;
  Developing and implementing legal strategic, compliance and regulatory policies and setting the agenda on Aruba, Curacao and Bonaire;
  Work with government bodies, regulators and other bodies to (help) achieve commercial objectives;
  Communicating regularly with Group directors, L&R teams across Digicel Group and other team members;
  Sharing legal and regulatory news, jurisprudence and tabling issues;

Academic qualifications and experience required for job:

 

Master’s degree in Dutch law (or similar);
  Experienced in working with a legal and regulatory team, preferably with(in) a multi‐national group business structure (matrix) and/or in leading private practice and corporate environment;
  Experienced in liaising and negotiating with government bodies, representatives and regulators;
  Minimum 5 years of working experience in a senior level position. Previous experience in corporate, intellectual property, commercial and regulatory issues in the telecommunications or ICT space will be highly regarded;
  Fluent in English, Dutch and Papiamentu both verbal and written.
