Position Overview:
The IT Network and Telephony Manager oversees the strategic planning, design, implementation, and maintenance of an organizations network infrastructure, telecommunications, and telephony systems. This role ensures high availability, security, and optimal performance of both wired and wireless networks, data communication systems, and telephony services. The manager collaborates with cross-functional teams to support business objectives, improve service delivery, and foster a culture of proactive system management.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Network Infrastructure Management
o Oversee the design, installation, configuration, and maintenance of the organization's network systems, including LAN, WAN, VPN, and wireless networks.
o Ensure network security, reliability, and scalability to meet current and future needs.
o Monitor and optimize network performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement network upgrades.
o Manage network devices, such as routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and wireless access points.
2. Telephony and Communication Systems
o Manage all aspects of the organization's telephony systems, including VoIP, PBX, and SIP technologies.
o Oversee telephony configuration, maintenance, and integration with other IT systems.
o Ensure telecommunication security, reliability, and compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
o Manage vendor relationships for telephony and communication services, including contracts and service-level agreements.
3. Team Leadership and Development
o Lead and mentor a team of network engineers, telephony specialists, and support staff.
o Set clear performance expectations, provide feedback, and develop team members' skills through training and development opportunities.
o Coordinate and prioritize the teams workload, ensuring effective allocation of resources and timely project delivery.
4. Strategic Planning and Project Management
o Develop and implement strategies for network and telephony expansion, integration, and enhancement to support organizational growth and innovation.
o Plan and execute network and telephony projects, including budgeting, resource allocation, and timeline management.
o Evaluate new technologies and assess their potential to improve business processes or reduce operational costs.
o Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement network and telephony solutions that meet the evolving needs of the organization.
5. Security and Compliance
o Ensure that network and telephony systems comply with internal security policies and external regulatory requirements.
o Oversee the implementation of security measures, such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and encryption.
o Conduct periodic audits and risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities and recommend improvements.
o Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans for network and telephony systems.
6. Budgeting and Vendor Management
o Manage the budget for network and telephony operations, including hardware, software, and service contracts.
o Negotiate and manage vendor contracts, service agreements, and procurement of network and telephony equipment.
o Evaluate vendor performance to ensure high-quality, cost-effective service delivery.
7. Documentation and Reporting
o Maintain accurate documentation of network and telephony configurations, changes, and processes.
o Generate regular reports on network and telephony performance, availability, and incident response.
o Present findings, recommendations, and strategic plans to senior management.
