Position Summary:

This position is responsible for managing, coordinating and assisting in the development and execution of all Connecticut Sun community and social outreach strategies and partnerships.  This position will also focus on fan development and database growth within the community to assist in the sale of all ticket types. 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: includes but not limited to:

Assist in the development and execution of key community initiatives – both for and non-profitAssist in management and engagement of day-to-day key community contactsAssist with key logistics and execution of all community and social outreach eventsContribute ideas, strategies and tactics in business planning process to ensure well thought out 12-month outreach plan for both for and non-profitWork closely with players to develop local community initiatives based on their personal interests.  Turn these into public relations story pitches for the Manager of CommunicationsPresent new community ideas / relationships to the Director of Franchise Development that help boost the Connecticut Sun’s stature and presence in the communityDevelop, create and execute community events that create new fans, build the teams database and contribute to the teams’ ticket sales effortsAssist in the fulfillment of all community related sponsorship elements and activations including game daysAssist in the creation of Sun Foundation eventsPresent new Sun Foundation ideas to raise money for the foundationAssist and add to team related community game night / theme night initiativesSource, order and manage team memorabilia and giveaway items for fundraising and community outreachCoordinate any social / team initiatives with the WNBA as needed

Minimum Education and Qualifications:

Bachelors’ Degree in Business Management or related fieldThree years working for a professional sports team within community relationsDemonstrates the ability to be innovative and proactive in promoting new ideas and conceptsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsExcellent organizational and multi-tasking skillsAbility to be collaborative and work within a team environmentIntermediate knowledge of Word, Excel and OutlookIn lieu of a Degree and previously mentioned experience, 7 years of experience working within the community relations field

Competencies:  Incumbent will master the following competencies while in this position:

Excellent communication, presentation and organizational skills and strong customer service ethicStrong verbal presentation skillsKnowledge of Mohegan Sun corporate and department policies and proceduresStrong knowledge of event planningThorough understanding of the Mohegan Tribal Employment Rights Ordinance (TERO) as it relates to employment

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Must be able to stand for extended periods of timeMust be able to travel overnight and have dependable transportationMust be able to work various shifts and flexible hours, including nights, weekends and holidays
