Cost Accounting Manager

OPEX Corporation is looking for an experienced cost accounting manager to join our team at our World Headquarters in Moorestown, NJ.  The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the cost accounting functions, ensuring accurate cost analysis and reporting, including pricing adjustments, and providing actionable insights to improve financial performance.  This role requires strong analytical skills, the ability to work with cross-functional teams, and an in-depth understanding of cost accounting principles and practices in a manufacturing environment.

 

Essential Responsibilities

Lead and manage all cost accounting activities, including standard costing, job order costing, variance analysis, and regular pricing updates Ensure accurate recording and reporting of product and operational costs Lead and mentor a small team of cost accountants, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback Review and analyze cost structures and trends Provide management with detailed cost insights and actionable recommendations for cost and profitability improvements Oversee inventory valuation and ensure proper costing of goods in process and finished goods Design and implement internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure the accuracy of accounting data Ensure compliance with internal accounting policies, procedures, and external regulations Collaborate with the supply chain and production teams to ensure accurate inventory tracking and reporting Work closely with operations, procurement, and production teams to understand cost drivers and ensure accurate and timely data reporting Support other departments with cost-related inquiries and reports as needed

 

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or another relevant field required CPA, CMA, or equivalent certification required Minimum of 7 years of experience in cost accounting, with at least 5 years in a managerial or supervisory role Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles, inventory management, and financial analysis Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office products and Oracle system or similar ERP experience Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Flexibility and determination to ensure the team’s overall goals are being met consistently and timely Strong communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally and present complex financial information clearly Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in financial reporting Ability to comprehend fast-paced business issues and practices Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work both independently and in a team environment Oracle experience preferred but not required
