Job Description:

The Manager of Energy Efficiency Programs and Utilities Portfolio is responsible for the development, execution, and measurement of energy efficiency initiatives and strategies in conjunction with senior leadership as well as developing and maintaining strong utility partnerships. This position leads a team that researches, tests, and operates energy efficiency technologies and strategies, engages utilities for prescriptive and custom energy rebate incentives, optimizes building operations utilizing energy management systems, supports the development of new utility accounts, manages the day-to-day utilities operations, and fosters new and deepened utility relationships. These activities require a leader that can provide technical guidance and best practices, develop sound business cases, track and measure success against efficiency goals, and build strong collaboration both internally and externally.  The ideal candidate for this position will possess strong technical expertise in energy systems, an expert understanding of electric utilities, excellent project and program management skills, and the ability to communicate results through thorough measurement and verification practices.  The candidate should exhibit a history of continual learning, demonstrated success in optimizing energy consumption, and strong interpersonal skills.  This role will require occasional travel to stores, vendor/utility offices, as well as industry conferences and events.

Responsibilities:

Directs RaceTrac’s energy management program, activities, and staffGuides efforts to identify, research and implement new technologies and best practices related to energy efficiencyAdvises on and/or sets energy goals, monitors progress, and communicates performanceManages energy use in coordination with other departments, including forecasting and tracking energy consumption and spendGenerates reports that track, measure and monitor energy efficiency goals at the corporate and store levelsPossesses knowledge of M&V protocols on common mechanical and electrical equipment in commercial buildings, including energy savings potential with a significant focus on mechanical systems, building automation technologies, and lightingDevelops and delivers presentations to internal stakeholders regarding energy efficiency initiativesProvides recommendations for efficient equipment specifications and building operationsOversees and/or conducts energy audits at facilities to identify energy conservation opportunitiesLeads efforts to apply for incentives and grants that support energy projects and programsTracks, analyzes, and acts on state and federal energy legislation and regulations that impact the organizationCollaborates with cross-functional teams to design and execute energy efficiency initiativesAnalyzes utility usage patterns and costs to develop strategies for demand-side management and cost reductionFosters enhanced utility partnerships for RaceTrac’s entire utility portfolio

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering, Energy Management, or a related field5+ years experience in a related field; 2+ years experience managing direct reportsCertified Energy Manager (CEM), Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional (LEED AP), Project Management Professional (PMP) or other relevant credentials are preferredStrong knowledge of energy systems, renewable energy technologies, and utility regulationsAbility to read, analyze, and interpret building designs and construction plans, control drawings, service bulletins, technical procedure manuals, equipment specifications, and governmental regulations
