Manager of Fabrication
POSITION SUMMARY Reporting into the AVP of IT, the Manager of Fabrication (MAF) plays an essential role at the Boston Architectural College (BAC) in providing access and oversight for the CNC LAB, the Shop, in coordination with the 3d printing and laser cutting team on campus at the BAC. They provide training and guidance on fabrication equipment to Senior Fabrication Associates, Fabrication Associates, students, faculty, and staff. They also ensure that proper procedures and the safe use of fabrication equipment is adhered to at all times by Associates, students, staff, and faculty. The MAF also ensures that regular maintenance of equipment is performed appropriately and in a timely manner, and ensures equipment is in a safe condition for operation. Additionally, they foster a creative, welcoming, and safe Fabrication Lab environment for students, faculty, and staff. The Manager of Fabrication will be expected to provide input on forecasting, budgeting, and planning for the Fabrication Labs throughout the year. They will maintain the inventory of supplies and provide maintenance and repair services for fabrication equipment. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Training and management of Senior Fabrication Associates and Fabrication Associates. Bi-Weekly Timesheet sign-off of associates and work-study employees. LOCATION REQUIREMENT This is a Full Time, Exempt position that is 100% (5 days a week) On-Site. The schedule is flexible and occasional evening and/or weekend training sessions will be required. Qualifications EDUCATIONAL CRITERIA Associate Degree or Two or more years of college required. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Experience with hand or machine wood-working required Experience with additive or subtractive fabrication methods are also a plus - e.g. CNC Milling, 3D Printing, Laser Cutting, etc. OTHER INFORMATION Salary Range for the position is $50,000 – $60,000 annually.
