Job Title: Manager of Fuel Trading (Northern Mid-Atlantic)

Job Summary: The Manager of Trading is responsible to plan and execute strategies to satisfy the Company’s requirements for fuel supply including uninterrupted supply at a below market cost and meeting profit targets specific to economic trading activities. The Manager of Trading is responsible for a specific geographic area of supply. This position is responsible for building strategic competency through supply assets and relationships to ensure fuel supply remains competitive over the long term. Key capabilities for success in this role include proficiency in purchasing gasoline, diesel & ethanol by truck, pipeline, barge, cargo and building key supply relationships with refiners, terminal companies and barge operators. This position will also be responsible for formulating and then executing the appropriate supply strategy for certain new and/or adjacent markets.  Additionally, this position is responsible for generating a yearly profit through speculative economic trade strategies which includes trading options, spreads, flat price, basis and blending gasoline components to create value all within the approved Risk Management Policy. 

Principal Duties:Responsible for all aspects of supply in respective market including term deal negation, bulk supply infrastructure negotiation and daily supply/trading.Responsible for yearly Economic Trading P&L.Define and implement the capabilities needed for the Petroleum Supply Department to execute the supply plan for gasoline, diesel and ethanol for our network of stores.  Establish and strengthen industry relationships and supplier networks. Advise Senior Management and affected departments on complementing capabilities that will be required to enhance these capabilities.  Work closely with the Director of Petroleum Supply and Trading and the Senior Manager of Supply and Distribution to maximize profitability.Manage the Petroleum Supply Analyst to ensure that role is adding value to the Fuel Department whilst developing the necessary skills and experience to advance within the department.Work closely with the Fuel Operations department to ensure that operational costs are minimized whilst maintaining supply reliability to support stores.Manage the bulk storage facilities to maximize profitability through blending, third party sales/exchanges and other strategic investments that may be required at the terminal.Develop additional Economic Trading strategies to maximize speculative trading profit whilst appropriately managing risk exposure and maintaining compliance with the Risk Management Policy.Initiate and manage physical product and financial positions for profit, focus on supply portfolio, manage price exposure for system and trading positions and propose relevant risk management and hedging strategies. Monitor and analyze gas, diesel and ethanol markets daily, stay abreast of all relevant developments within the industry.Develop third-party gasoline, diesel and ethanol exchanges or sales in the region.Define and implement strategic capabilities needed for the Petroleum Supply Department to remain competitive over the long term in their respective geographies.Participate in supply chain critical skills and cross-training opportunities.Participate in support for carriers and stores which requires being on call 24/7 during multiple weeks of the year.Understand the EPA compliance, tax and legal ramifications that trading and supply decisions place on the company and manage this exposure appropriately.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree preferredFive to ten years’ experience in petroleum products trading including gasoline and diesel along with ethanol and RINsStrong demonstrated knowledge of Fuel market infrastructure including rack wholesalers, terminal assets and pipeline assets
