Develops objectives, policies, and procedures for department cost centers to formalize and implement the mission, vision, and values of Billings Clinic. Maintains the standards, customer relations, and practice in a designated service line. Accountabilities include: quality of services; short and long range planning to achieve goals and objectives; fiscal control; physician and interdepartmental/intradepartmental relations; personnel management. Manager oversees the department of Gynecologic Oncology, Oncology Navigation, and Cancer Center Research. Gynecologic Oncology is a medical and surgical team with outreach to various sites throughout the state of MT that require frequent in-person and virtual meetings to ensure quality, safety, and patient experience expectations are met as well as reviewing data to determine ongoing needs for clinic and OR services. The manager of this department is required to work collaboratively with a physician dyad partner as well as with the Director and Medical Director of the Cancer Center for strategic planning, department goal setting and outreach growth/strategy. The manager works with the director to develop gynecologic oncology services to Billings Clinic affiliates and fully owned facilities as requested. The manager is required to attend all mandatory accreditation meetings per standards for said accreditations and participate in Cancer Center sponsored events such as Relay for Life and Survivor’s Barbeque.
Essential Job Functions
• In collaboration with physician dyad partner and director dyad, administration, and other health care providers, develops and implements short- and long-range plans, and leads, develops and revises programs which enhance department services.
• Works with dyad partner and director dyad in the overall marketing, program development, and service priorities. Coordinates with physicians and other Billings Clinic leadership to assure continuity in pursing service line/organizational goals and synergy in implementing plans and problem resolution.
• Officially reviews productivity standard for physicians and nursing teams annually and makes recommendations for changes to director and VP as needed.
• Develops, implements, and maintains a realistic, cost-effective annual budget.
• Demonstrates effective problem-solving skills.
• Practices process improvement principles to assess and improve the quality of the service/care provided within the department. Maintains competency in all organizational, departmental, and outside agency safety standards relevant to job performance for department and ensures compliance of department and staff.
• Develops, retains, recruits, and leads a talented team committed to accomplishing the goals and objectives of Billings Clinic. Recommends, implements, and evaluates plans and systems that assure sufficient number of qualified and competent staff to provide care/services. Adheres to administrative policies and procedures relating to human resource management.
• Demonstrates and encourages an ethic of open communication and teamwork throughout the organization. Builds an environment of shared commitment to Billings Clinic’s goals and responsibility to achieve quality outcomes. Provides consultation for related concerns and acts as a customer advocate by demonstrating sensitivity to ethical and legal ramifications of practice.
• Participates in evaluation, selection and integration of health care technology and information management systems that support quality of care/financial needs and the efficient use of resources.
• Has knowledge of Billings Clinic Cancer Center accreditations standards as well as DNV accreditation standards and holds teams to these standards.
• Strong ability to work collaboratively with various Billings Clinic departments and outreach sites.
• Creates and revises practice guidelines, policies, and procedures for Gynecologic Oncology, Navigation, and Cancer Research as required and/or needed.
