About the Team
Invenergy’s Renewable Development team is responsible for generating new wind, solar, and energy storage opportunities for the company by identifying potential projects and advancing them through the development process. This includes site identification, permitting, resource measurement, establishing interconnection positions and Indigenous and community engagement.
Position Overview
As a Manager, Renewable Development, you will manage the development of utility-scale solar, energy storage, and wind energy projects in Ontario and Western Canada. This position will be in our Toronto office.
Fixed-Term Contract
Please note that this is a temporary role intended to cover a parental leave currently anticipated to be 1 year in duration from March 2025 to March 2026. The contract may need to end earlier or may be extended, depending upon the incumbent's ultimate return from leave.
Responsibilities
Manage wind, solar, and/or energy storage projects in some or all of Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia
Lead development activities in prospecting, early, mid, and/or late stages of a project
Align projects with long-term company strategy and initiatives
Identify development prospects, including market assessments, fatal flaw identification and initial site reconnaissance
Secure site control for development prospects, including negotiating leases, easements and other agreements with landowners.
Coordinate landowner communication efforts.
Take a lead role in obtaining certain municipal, provincial and/or federal permits
Represent Invenergy with customers, landowners, provincial and local officials and other stakeholders.
Initiate and manage generation interconnection activities.
Oversee project design.
Assist project budgeting and scheduling.
Manage tasks according to budgets and schedules, including coordinating internal and external technical support.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelors Degree
4+ years work experience in the renewable and clean energy industry or similar direct relevant experience
Ability to travel as needed in Canada and United States (U.S.), which is anticipated 25% of the time. Candidate must have a valid VISA, if needed, for travel to the U.S.
Valid driver’s license
Eligible to work in Canada without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future
Preferred Skills
Bachelor’s in environmental science, planning or engineering
Ability to manage the development and strategic process for wind and/or solar energy projects.
Strong organizational, networking, leadership, time management, and accounting skills.
Strong public speaking and personal skills.
Ability to write effective, concise reports.
Familiarity with renewable energy development, real estate development, transmission and power projects, and provincial energy markets are advantageous.
