As a Manager of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within the Infrastructure Platforms & Production Services-Risk team, you lead a team and manage day-to-day implementation activities of an internally facing application by identifying and escalating issues and ensuring your team’s work adheres to compliance standards, business requirements, and tactical best practices.

Job responsibilities 

Lead a software engineering feature team to build and scale a brand new application for use by internal customers. Collaborate with Tech Lead, Lead Developer, and Manager of other feature team to drive design and implementation planning. Lead team to prototype solutions, interacting directly with customers to gain feedback, iterating on and improving design. Provides guidance and coaching to immediate team of software engineers on daily tasks and activities. Sets the overall guidance and expectations for team output, practices, and collaboration. Anticipates dependencies with other teams to deliver products and applications in line with business requirements. Manages stakeholder relationships and the team’s work in accordance with compliance standards, service level agreements, and business requirements. Creates a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect for the team members and prioritizes diverse representation.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience. 2+ years' experience with managing a team of technologists. Experience leading technology projects. Experience with running standups, sprint planning cadences, career development, troubleshooting blockers and code functions. Proficient in automation and continuous delivery methods. Proficient in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle. Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security. Practical cloud native experience. Experience in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field and expertise in technology disciplines.

 Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

Experience working at code level with Python, Django, React, Typescript and/or Javascript. Familiarity with Python libraries. Understanding of databases and database queries. In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems. Experience of internal audit or technology risk management practices.
