The community you’ll be caring for:

AdventHealth is expanding, bringing our quality, compassionate whole-person care to western Johnson County. Our new hospital and medical campus — AdventHealth Lenexa City Center — will open in 2025.

The role you’ll contribute:

Clinically trained minister serving as the leader responsible for overseeing the chaplain team. Together with the chaplain team, the senior chaplain provides spiritual care to our customers and their families, partners, and team members. Participates as a member of the healthcare team in evaluating spiritual needs, provides one-to-one, short-term spiritual support to patients, families and care team members in inpatient, outpatient, urgent-care, corporate and other specialized care settings. Provides in-services, seminars and/or workshops for team members and community in various areas of need. Actively supports Mission integration through initiatives such as Spiritual Ambassadors and Creation Health within the organization and in the community. Fosters a sense of mission that enhances a culture of Love, experience of Joy, and a sense of Peace within the hospital and the healthcare team. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

· Provide spiritual support for all administrative and clinical initiatives in the organization.

· Creates an open and safe relationship in providing support of team member or departmental needs

· Identifies and engages in at least two (2) mission integration initiatives within AdventHealth Shawnee Mission, for example: Grief recovery, Marriage family, Spiritual Ambassadors, Creation Health, Mission Service

· Performs/facilitates ecclesiastical functions and spiritual practices as requested by patients, families and team members.

· Assist Administrative Director Mission & Ministry with oversight of department

· Provides mentoring and leadership to CPE students and interns

Qualifications

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed :

· Master of Divinity or equivalent meeting the Association of Professional Chaplains requirements

· Ordination/commissioning or Licensure as minister in good standing with the Seventh-day Adventist Church

· Minimum of four units of Clinical Pastoral Education accredited by Association for Clinical Pastoral Education

· Eligible for Board Certification with the Association of Professional Chaplains
