Summary:
The Manager of Operational Development reports to the Chief Nursing Officer and is responsible for overseeing and enhancing the operational processes within Bradley Hospital through strategic planning program development staff training quality assurance and leadership with the overall focus being to improve clinical and operational outcomes improve direct care staff retention leadership preparation and succession planning. Through interdepartmental collaboration will ensure that all direct care staff training and programs are aligned with trauma-informed evidenced based practice regulatory standards and the organization�s mission. The Manager of Operational Development serves as the key bridge between clinical and operational interventions ensuring that direct care staff are integral to the process of developing implementing and executing initiatives. This role ensures that these efforts align with the program's mission and achieve the desired program outcomes while enhancing the safety culture of staff empowerment and engagement.
Responsibilities:
Program Development and Improvement:
Through interdisciplinary collaboration data analysis and staff engagement lead the development and continuous improvement of clinical programs across multiple service lines at Bradley Hospital
Design implement and evaluate new initiatives aimed at improving patient care and operational efficiency.
Collaborate with clinical teams to build staff empowerment and engagement in continuous improvement and operational innovation through leadership opportunities mentorship and taskforce participation.
Provide consultation to clinical managers and leaders regarding training needs and recommendations for staff skill development.
Training Program Development and Management:
Ensure that training programs are aligned with the Brown University Health�s C.A.R.E values and policies.
Serve as a resource for leadership and staff in identifying drivers and solutions for operational and clinical challenges.
Lead the design development and delivery of training programs that meet organizational needs and enhance staff performance in collaboration with nursing leadership.
Conducts needs assessments using a variety of strategic tools to assist nursing leadership in developing targeted interventions to ensure staff are well-prepared to implement new programs therapeutic techniques and quality standards.
Develop and oversee delivery of comprehensive training plans including new employee onboarding ongoing skill development leadership training and regulatory compliance in behavioral health care environments.
Monitor trainer performance and provide regular feedback to ensure consistency quality and effectiveness in training delivery.
Provide regular supervision and conduct regular team meetings to review direct reports� goals share feedback and collaborate on challenges and opportunities.
Develop and foster a collaborative and high-performance team culture among trainers and program leaders.
Quality Assurance Collaboration and Compliance:
Monitor quality indicator for trends (such as restraint/seclusion rates length of stay Patient Satisfaction Your Voice Survey turnover rates)
Ensure all services comply with relevant healthcare regulations accreditation standards and organizational policies.
Develop and manage budgets related to program development training and operational improvements.
Regularly report on the status of program development operational improvements and quality initiatives to Nursing Leadership Nursing Operations and Quality Risk and Safety as requested.
Foster open lines of communication across all levels of the organization to ensure smooth and effective operations.

Other information:
BASIC KNOWLEDGE:
Master�s degree in psychology nursing or education from an accredited graduate school with relevant leadership and training experience and program implementation in behavioral health care required. Doctorate degree with a focus in healthcare leadership or operations preferred.
Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients throughout the life span with consideration of aging processes human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care process.
EXPERIENCE:
Five years� relevant clinical experience or as a Clinical Educator or Instructor. Demonstrated teaching skills which include effective communication and evidence of self-direction. Proven experience with leading continuous improvement projects in behavioral health settings.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Prolonged standing and walking. Exposed to all patient elements. May be required to lift/turn patients and equipment. Repeated bending squatting stooping. Must obtain initial certification and annual re-certification in safety care level 1 with no restrictions.
INDEPENDENT ACTION:
Performs independently within program policies and practices. Refers specific complex problems to supervisor where clarification of Program policies and procedures may be required.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
Manages up to 10 FTE
