Manager Outcomes and Impact

Summary:

Reports to Director Medication Safety Quality and Pharmacy Information Technology. Manages and develops the Integrated Technology Team including Data Scientists Systems and Analytics Specialists and Business Operations Specialists. Directs technology infrastructure and team to support ever changing technology needs. Evaluates existing technologies and processes then advises Pharmacy Leadership Team with the best ways to move forward with patient safety systems security and business strategy in mind. Sets priorities for data science analytic and technology projects balancing the needs of stakeholders with resources available. Collaborates with data science and analytics teams and organizations including academic outreach and collaboration within Brown University Health. Improves patient outcomes through the application of advanced analytical strategies and techniques. Deploys benchmarking and metric-based strategies to measure the direct and indirect impact of multiple programs.

Serves as backup for Team Lead Business Ops and Clinical Intelligence to support paid time off and surges in workload.

Responsibilities:

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Is responsible for knowing and acting in accordance with the principles of the Brown University Health Corporate Compliance Program and Code of Conduct.

Improves patient outcomes through the application of advanced analytical strategies and techniques.

Collaborates with Pharmacy Leadership to understand the pharmacy�s business strategy and plan for technology infrastructure. Directs the technology infrastructure and team to support the ever-changing technology needs of the Pharmacy Department.

Evaluates existing technologies and processes then advises the Pharmacy Leadership Team with the best ways to move forward with patient safety systems security and business strategy in mind.

Sets priorities for data science analytic and technology projects while balancing the needs of key stakeholders with the resources that are available.

Suggest hardware software and process changes as appropriate to improve pharmacy operations.

Research and develop statistical learning models for data analysis.

Deploys benchmarking and metric-based strategies to measure the direct and indirect impact of multiple programs.

Collaborate with clinical and operational staff to understand health system needs and devise possible solutions

Maintains knowledge of and expertise in leading edge developments in data science and analytics by participation in ongoing independent study education-related professional activities and affiliations.

Collaborate in the design of business processes to allow for appropriate and efficient data collection

Applies fundamental aspects of benchmarking and metric collection to ensure stakeholders measure impact accurately.

Ensure that advanced analytical techniques such as machine learning and artificial intelligence are used safely and responsibly including vendor supplied functionality.

Works jointly with stakeholders throughout the healthcare organization. Collaborates with data science analytics teams and organizations including local academic institutions and collaboration within Brown University Health.

This position includes responsibility for on call coverage as designated.

Travel between facilities or sites as required.

QUALIFICATIONS - EDUCATION:

Bachelor�s degree or equivalent in computer science business administration or related field or equivalent work experience with an advanced degree preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of five or more years of progressively more responsible related experience leading teams that deploy analytical solutions. Experience with training implementing and scrutinizing machine learning models benchmarking and metric design.

Minimum of five years of practical experience with data analysis programming data mining and statistical analysis.

Experience interfacing with executive leadership and balancing the requirements of multiple high-level stakeholders

Certification in Epic Clarity reporting system preferred

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Extended periods of time spent standing and walking.

Requires the visual and manual dexterity to operate a computer.

INDEPENDENT ACTION:

Performs independently within department policies and practices.

Refers specific complex problems to Director Medication Quality and Safety/Pharmacy Information Technology where clarification of departmental policies and procedures may be required.

Ability to multi-task.

Strong analytical and organizational skills.

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variable situations where only limited standardization exists.Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions furnished in written oral diagram or schematic form.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

Up to 5 direct reports.

Up to 15 indirect reports.
