The Clinical Risk & Patient Safety Manager reports to the Chief Medical Officer with a dotted line to the Corporate VP of Patient Safety, Risk & Insurance and provides administrative leadership, direction, and supervision in the integration of the overall Risk and Patient Safety program for the facility. Responsible for development of annual site specific Patient Safety Plan. Coordinates patient safety improvement programs that reduce the risk of injury and promote reporting of incidents. Develop and deliver education programs based on incident reporting data. Administers the Safety First Program including the performance of investigations and Root Cause Analysis. Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Provides leadership and oversight for all patient safety endeavors at the site including: Prevention, Detection and Correction of Patient Safety events Staff education in error reduction Culture of Safety Just Culture Daily Check-ins Assists in the development and implementation of Patient Safety Annual Goals and Objectives in line with McLaren Strategic Plan Responsible for development of the Patient Safety Plan and Areas of Focus Patient Safety Identification/Event Management. Initiates and oversees the development of a patient safety improvement program inclusive of the analysis and trending of data related to hospital initiatives.
Required: Bachelor’s Degree in healthcare field Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) or other Patient Safety training/certification desired (CPPS, IHI Executive Development) within 6 months of hire Minimum of five years of healthcare experience, preferably in a risk and patient safety management role.
