Job Summary

Manages the direction, coordination, and analysis of pharmacy services. Utilizes data and information from multiple sources to identify opportunities within the medication use system in order to ensure continuous process improvement. Leads a diverse and effective pharmacy team with the purpose of improving quality and safety outcomes and managing financial performance. Works collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to implement programs and systems. Has an in-depth knowledge of pharmacy operations and pharmacy practice and demonstrates a personal commitment to professional growth.

Essential Functions

Manages the activities of professional, technical and support staff who are engaged in ordering, compounding, dispensing, preparing, storing, using and distributing (and the control of) drugs and other pharmaceutical products.In collaboration with IS personnel, develops, implements, improves and maintains pharmacy information systems and technology.Oversees, prepares and updates policies and procedures affecting the Pharmacy as assigned.Provides direction and support to staff to ensure effectiveness and efficiency. Establishes work standards. Selects, trains, develops, and evaluates team members and initiates personnel actions in accordance with departmental policies and organization philosophy.Provides consultation and expertise in support of patient care treatment and services. Consults on drug therapy, drug regimen reviews, and drug utilization reviews. Consults on research projects and other matters related to pharmacology.Engages in continuous study of the entire professional field to maintain the professional competence, knowledge, and skills necessary for satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities. Completes required continuous training and education, including department and Corewell Health specific requirements on a timely basis.Anticipates customer needs and manages the provision of services to all customers, including patients, physicians, hospital departments and staff. Ensures that staff responds to requests for services, information, records, and data on a timely basis. Researches and resolves problems.

Qualifications

Required Bachelor's Degree or equivalent Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited College of Pharmacy5 years of relevant experience Required3 years of relevant experience Skills, knowledge, abilities gained through related leadership experience or post graduate residency training (PGY2).
